We'd better re-sign Kanu. With Dennis retiring and Wiltord possibly leaving, we'll need him. Besides, he's had a resurgence of late.

Kanu no way. He's playing well only to renew his contract so that at the end of next season he'd complete 5 yrs in England n get a British citizenship........

I watched a Feyenoord match on channel 5 last night ( uk). Van Persie had some nice touches, and he is very strong on the ball, i think he is a little bit raw, but his movement was good.

His control on the ball reminds, of a cros between Bergkamp and Zidane, this is no exagerration

I think he's got it now.

He deserves a new deal. Wiltord is almost surely gone.

DB37 on DB10: “I am not saying that I am anywhere near the player that Dennis is — but I am after his shirt.

“I know everyone is making comparisons right now, but to even be mentioned in the same breath as Bergkamp is an honour.

“I have a very, very long way to go to be put in the same class as Dennis. He is my hero and as a player he’s on a different planet.

“Watching him play and train has been the biggest influence on me as a player.

“His touch and skill look so effortless and that’s what makes him so good. There are no tricks or gimmicks, it’s just pure poetry.

“I hope he stays on for one more year at Highbury because I still feel I have so much to learn from him.”

AW on Fifa's crap:

The France/Brazil useless game -- "This game will be a problem for the FA Cup final but also for other countries as well," he warned.

"I don't say it's disrespectful to clubs but I feel it's like tennis when you have too many competitions without any worry of quality and the interest of people is decreased."

The world club cup -- "The only interest is financial, it's not sport. For one simple reason - the best players all play in Europe and the Club World Championship has less interest than the Champions League,"
On Arsenal in the cup -- "So we might consider it purely for financial reasons but the responsibility of FIFA is to keep the level of football high and always try to push it higher."

KLUIVERT DENIES ARSENAL DEAL
Monday 26th January 2004

Kluivert: No Arsenal deal

Patrick Kluivert has informed the Catalan media that he has not signed a pre-contract with Arsenal.
The Barcelona striker has been heavily tipped to join Arsene Wenger's Gunners in the close season in order to form a potentially exciting strike partnership with the outstanding Thierry Henry.

However, the Dutch international has made it clear that no decision has yet been made on his future, even though he seems increasingly likely to quit Camp Nou in the summer.

"Arsenal? What hurts me is that people can think that I have signed a pre-contract because it is not the truth," he insisted.

Meanwhile, coach Frank Rijkaard has praised Xavi and Ronaldinho after the 1-0 win in Sevilla, revealing why he substituted the Brazilian for Marc Overmars.

"Congratulations to Xavi, not only for his birthday, but the way he played," stated Rijkaard. "He celebrated in the best way.

"The truth is there are many games ahead. It is clear that Ronaldinho is indispensable for us.

"With the score at 1-0, I believed we needed to defend more therefore I replaced Ronaldinho because I wanted to give him a little rest.

"The most important thing was to win, at any price. The only thing that counts are the points."

Rijkaard was satisfied with Kluivert's work as the former Ajax striker bagged the only goal of the game.

"I am very happy for the player because it has been a very delicate week for him," added the Barca boss.

"One must congratulate him above all after the hard week that he has had.

"It was a very important goal for him and his team-mates."

Brilliant.

Still half not believing it though, will wait until it comes up on the official Arsenal website before going all bonkers.

This is what I wrote about earlier in this thread and at least one of you took offence.
The team needed a spark, some excitement.
The team was becoming same old ,same old.

Well now we've got some shiat to raise the pores!!!!

Let's face it.............suddenly we can interchange Reyes and Pires.
I think Reyes is a tad overrated and he falls too much, but he obviously has a lot of dribbling skills and he can shoot, and he's left-footed.
Add the fact that Wenger is sure to improve his all-around game, then we have a massive buy here.....

But 20Million?
I don't know about that.............thats an awful lot of money

I am rarely, if ever, overly suprised in life. But, when soccernet.com loaded up in front of me, to reveal that Arsenal shelled out 20M for a player, I was shocked.

Hopefully he's as good as he sounds.
