Totti doubtful for derby

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Francesco Totti might be forced to miss Sunday’s showdown with Lazio. “The Chances of me playing are 20 per cent.”

The Giallorosso did not travel to Bergamo last weekend due to sciatica and a bruised back and his condition has failed to improve since then, forcing him to miss training on Wednesday and Thursday.

“What are the chances of me playing in the derby? I would say 20 per cent and that is only to encourage myself,” said Totti.

“I am not a person who surrenders easily, but I am in pain. I suffered a lot for my sciatica problem in the matches with Sampdoria and Inter,” added the Roma captain.

“My leg hurts as soon as I extend it. As to the haematoma in my back, it has decreased in size, but walking is an effort for me.

“Today I will try to run and we will see. I will speak to Luciano Spalletti and decide with him what is the best thing to do,” concluded the player.

Roma hope to make up for the 3-0 derby defeat in December, but will have to do without Matteo Ferrari and Marco Cassetti, who were both handed one-match bans by the Disciplinary Commission.

Wilhelmsson wants Roma stay

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nantes-owned Christian Wilhelmsson is hoping Roma will make his move to the Stadio Olimpico a permanent one.

The versatile midfielder joined the capital city club in January on a loan deal, with an option for the Giallorossi to buy out his contract providing they do so by the end of May 1, 2007.

“I would like to stay, but I don’t know what will happen,” Wilhelmsson told the Swedish newspaper Sportbladet.

“At the time being I only want to focus on doing well, there is not much more I can do,” added the Swede.

“Also, I think I did will in Sunday’s derby. It was my first derby and it was very exciting for me.

“However, I cannot be totally happy because we failed to win the three points. Lazio played well but we should have finished one of the scoring chances we created,” concluded Wilhelmsson.

If Roma decide to make the move permanent, the midfielder will receive wages of £1.2m-per-year as part of a previously agreed four-season deal.

Di Natale Rome bound?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale could join Roma at the end of the season, according to the player’s agent.

The Bianconero has recently been paired with a summer move, with the capital city club one of his possible destinations.

“Roma are interested in Di Natale and that is nothing new,” said agent Bruno Carpeggiani to Teleradiostereo.

“However, no official negotiations are underway. Udinese do not sell off their players – as a matter of fact they always try to earn as much as they can,” added the striker’s representative.

“At the time being I do not think there has been any contact between Roma and Giampaolo Pozzo’s club.

“In any case, Roma have some interesting young players, who could be included in the deal. We will wait and see what happens.”

Udinese supporters were unhappy with Di Natale’s behaviour during Sunday’s match with Catania.

He left his side down to nine men for his sarcastic behaviour towards referee Luca Marelli after a controversial penalty was awarded to the Sicilians.

“We feel betrayed by the player’s behaviour,” said Candido Odorico, the President of the Zebrette fans’ association. “We did not like his attitude and we cannot justify what he did.

“I don’t want to comment on the reports suggesting that he will leave the club. We would be very disappointed to learn that he meant to send someone a message with his gesture on Sunday.”

Di Natale was handed a two-match ban and will be forced to skip the match away at Cagliari and the mid-table clash with Atalanta.

I want to stay with Diadora, I like the way of looking their kits. :D

Yeah, me too. I liked all Diadora kits we had, especially the 2004/2005 kits. Panucci switched from Diadora to Nike this season, maybe it's a preview... :| Hope not...

Don't like Diadora, I prefered Kappa.

Wilhelmsson, nothing to do; Roma had to rescue him at 30 april, time is expired so he come back to Nantes; we got no money (2,5 millions) for him, where do we find 6,5 for Pizarro? It's crazy I know but this summer will be critical for the team, Mexes or Chivu will be sold, and maybe Mancini (to Inter replacing Figo). Cazzo.:boohoo: :nape: :nape: :nape:

Palermo-Roma

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma have let their foot slip off the gas since their 7-1 mauling at Old Trafford against Manchester United. One point from their last two games handed the Scudetto to Inter but with a 10-point lead over third-placed Milan, and a Champions League spot guaranteed, it will be hard to find motivation for the last four games of the season, although a win would finally confirm them in second place.

Palermo, meanwhile, have at last managed to record their first win since early February and under new Coach Renzo Gobbo may have refound their form and determination at just the right time. After free-falling out of the Champions League places they have an uphill struggle to close the six-point gap to fourth-placed Lazio, but a win over the Giallorossi could well kick-start their run-in – which is notably easier than the Biancocelesti’s as they still have to travel to Inter.

Back in December it was Luciano Spalletti’s side who were clearly dominant, taking a 4-0 win from their clash at the Stadio Olimpico. Francesco Totti and Amantino Mancini both took two goals apiece in that game. That result, in a bad-tempered game, confirmed the Roman side as Inter’s true Scudetto rivals. Palermo do have two recent wins on home soil over their opponents, a 2-1 Coppa Italia win last term and a 2-0 Serie A triumph the season before.

Last April when the two sides met at the Renzo Barbera the outcome was the points shared in a six-goal thriller. Roma will remember the game for their amazing second-half capitulation, as after taking a 3-0 half-time lead – thanks to goals from Rodrigo Taddei and a two-minute brace from Mancini – they let the Rosanero back into the match through a David Di Michele strike and a double from Simone Barone.

That game had come close after the capital club had eliminated the Sicilians from the Coppa Italia and a pink and black revenge attack had been promised. This time out Palermo just have their pride and fading Champions League dream to spur them on – their fans will be hoping that is enough of an incentive.

Palermo remain with Andrea Caracciolo as the sole attacker this week and switch to a flat back four rather than play with just the trio of Giuseppe Biava, Andrea Barzagli and Cristian Zaccardo who started at Livorno last weekend. Andrea Pisano comes into the defence with Aimo Diana falling out of his midfield slot to make way.

For Roma, Max Tonetto, Mirko Vucinic and Francesco Totti join long-term injury casualties Valerio Virga and Gilberto Martinez on the treatment table. Marco Cassetti replaces Tonetto while Francesco Tavano takes Totti’s role as the lone forward.

Man on fire: David Di Michele (Palermo) – A 75th minute winner against Livorno sealed Palermo’s first three point pick-up since February and salvaged their remote chance of sneaking back into the top four places.

Ja, now we have the 2nd place, it's the most important thing, the coppa Italia is not so important, we've no chances with Inter, only with a miracle we can do something.
Nice 1st half in Palermo, super-Totti and 2-0, then 2nd half very slow, finally 1-2 and all ok.
