Roma defender Chivu dismisses Real Madrid link

Cristian Chivu has again moved to assure Roma fans he isn't interested in a move away.
The Romania international defender has been linked with Real Madrid, but said: "I will remain with the Giallorosso, I will not move from here.

"I have said it many times over. However, I want to clear up once again that I do not have any intention to move from Roma."

Juventus keeper Buffon: Roma have been in contact
Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has revealed Roma have made contact about a loan move to the capital.
The Italy No1 said: "Someone from Roma proposed the idea to me. But at Juve, they did not take the loan offer well and then has closed the doors to everyone."

Asked about David Trezeguet's potential move to Manchester United, Buffon added: "If Trezeguet has other offers, it is only right that he takes the option he favours.

"Both parties in negotiation must be as happy as possible. To limit players from moving can be damaging here."

welcome mirko.

on the cufre transfer. i'm rather shocked. a player who has been a staple as our left back for the last two years and is really coming into his prime, we sell for no apparent reason. he's an argentinian international, a player of real quality and we sell him for no reason.

and now the korean guy isn't coming, we are pretty much left with aleandro rosi. of course, chivu can play as an emergency left back, but then we have a gap in the center. this just hasn't worked out at all.

Vucinic needs some time to settle so I would keep him as a sub for the first few games or first match of the season. Pizarro should be fit to start after we spent so long getting him. Tonetto fills in as left-back unless we buy someone better before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti has warned his side against overconfidence after the Serie A fixtures were drawn up.

“I think the matches are very well assorted, although experience has taught me that there are no easy games,” said the tactician.

“Some people think that in the early stages of the tournament teams are still working to find their best condition, so it may be better to immediately play the major sides.

“In reality, I believe that matches can be considered easy or challenging only in theory and this is even more true in Roma’s case.

“A lot will depend on us. Matches that seem difficult can then become accessible once we are on the pitch and vice versa.”

Roma will meet Livorno in their seasonal debut on September 9 and are scheduled to play title holders Inter on September 20.

The Giallorossi are in the process of finalising their summer transfers and made official the arrival of striker Mirko Vucinic and defender Rodrigo Defendi on Wednesday.

Vucinic came in from Lecce in a £2.2m loan deal and said that playing for Roma is a dream come true.

“I will finally have the opportunity to play for a major club, I am very happy to be here,” the striker stated.

“Roma are an ambitious team who aim to win important trophies and have many wonderful supporters.

“I want to thank the club for wanting me and Lecce for letting me go,” added Vucinic. “I hope I will be able to prove my gratitude for this opportunity on the pitch.”

Defendi was also pleased following his Udinese switch after making only two appearances at the Stadio Friuli last term.

“I am very glad to be here,” he noted. “My first impressions are very positive and I hope I will be able to repay Roma for their trust.”

when i saw the headline, i have to say i was really happy. magnin was brilliant in the world cup, and his stock rose for me. i think he would be a great addition.
