Assistance with selling players

Hi again!

I am in my third year, managing Nottingham Forest (in the premiership after two straight promotions). I have run into a problem with having a bloated squad. I need advice on how to sell players (have transfer-listed several but no suitors), and I currently have my assistant manager as responsible for contracts).

I just want to cut my wage bill and also reduce the number of players.

Help, please.

You could try to offer clubs your players.

I try that all the time, with reduced amounts and incentives (installments), no dice.

Offer them for a small amount. I guess you can't expect to get more than what they are worth, probably much less. If you just want to get rid of them you could also offer them for free or release them as free agents.

Yeah, I only release players for 2 reasons: 1) they are fringe reserve players and causing disharmony and 2) I have plenty of money to take the financial hit, but am using my entire wage budget and need to free up salary for new signings.

The transfer system is kind of crap in this game, especially when it comes to selling players. I would wait for the patch that comes out at the end of this month I believe. In the mean time, check the reputation of the players you are willing to sell. If they have low reps(regional, obscure, unknown), it's possible they are just not well known so nobody will bid for them. Also if the players already have low sale values and low stats, it could mean that the players you are trying to offload could just be crap. If not, maybe nobody has a need for these specific players. I would recommend just waiting for the patch. If it fixes your problem, that's good. If not, well then, enjoy the bugs SI leaves in their games. That's Football Manager for you, unfortunately.

what about if you try praise the player in the media then try sell them, that might increase their rep a bit, or something along them lines

My best way to do this is..
before you start the game, use the editor..
move the player, and off you go..
