At Last!! Scoring!!!!! Sussed!

Well, I don't have much trouble scoring, but I don't particulary like the way I do. Somehow Pes6 has lost the magic compared to previous installments. If in Pes5 both me and AI could score in many various fashions, both stunning and cheesy goals, just like in real football, Pes6 seem to have very scripted shooting system. And the balooning over the bar is indeed overdone. It's not that it doesn't happen in real life, it's the frequency of this happening. They could at least make some other, more clever versions of you missing the goal. Blasting the ball almost vertically upwards when there's no pressure applied on every third or so shot looks odd and unrealistic.

As for tips on how to be more effective, here's some.
As already mentioned use R2 when shooting. I recommend to push it slightly after you filled the gauge bar, not before, otherwise the player will start mincing.
Try to pass alot around the penalty area. A lot of goals I score are tapins after a long and exaustnig passaround. AI just gets bored by it and does something stupid quite often.
Never shoot when defenders are pressing or are too near. You have to be absolutely free from any hint of a physical presence of the opponent at the moment you shoot.
Also, stop sprinting when shooting.

Not that mutch to recommend, just need to adopt oneslf to every Pes game. I already got used to the fact, that whenever Konami fixes and enhances some aspects of the game, they always manage to break some others that were actually good in previous games. Shooting is one of these things imo.

imo the shooting system is nearly perfect!

i wonder that nobody lost a word about the training-mode.
as i played pes6 for the first time, i played 0:0 but i had lots of chances. so the next step was to check out the training-mode and i played with my team vs the opponent goaly to learn how to shoot. (after that you can step-by-step increase the number of your enemies.)
in training-mode you can replay the scene with the select-button (if you activated it in the menu). i played every scene 10-20 times and i tryed all possibilities of shooting, feinting, lobing etc.

when you do this you will see how your players react in different situations. and when you spend some time in recognizing and understanding how/why they do what they do, you will become a good pes players whos able to score goals respectively know how pes "works".

Why do you guys call it whining when someone brings to attention a major flaw in pes which is supposed to be 'realistic' in relatn to fifa? I kind of undastand that the ball should be a small distance away from and more to the side of the players prefered foot for a clean strike.What beats my undastanding is wen u have such a situatn,then a defender,from the otha side pushes your player slightly,u underpowa your shot and stil send it 2 mars?!

The logical eventuality when you are pushed slightly and you are going for a relatively weak placed shot is for the player to make a much weaker shot either straight at the keeper or crawling past the post and out of play because the player is off balance! Not sending the ball to uranus from 1yard!?

I'm seriously thinking of punting Babel during next master league season, he skins 4 defenders takes it round the keepr one big giant open goal and i press the shoot button (just a tiny tap) and the bastard skys it.

Same thing with messi, skins two defenders and again (tap it) and hits the post and gos out for a goal kick.

i can't get a header on target just seems to fly well over the bar or lobbed over the bar.

I have finally sussed out the scoring system in PES6 ....

Whatever team you are playing press the shoot button when approaching the goal from the left hand side diagonally and you can be guaranteed to put the ball 10 feet over the net.

Whatever team you are playing press the shoot button when approaching the goal from the right hand side diagonally and you can be guaranteed to also put the ball 10 feet over the net.

Approach the goal straight on and press the shoot button and you can be guaranteed to put the ball at least 25 foot over the net.

HOWEVER .... if you have an open goal in front of you and are in the box quickly press the SHOOT button and you will guaranteed to put the ball at least 15 foot over the net.

If you have tried all of the above TRY AGAIN, because in time you WILL score a random and rare goal. Oh Yeah.

Does CONAMI make those golfing games that no one buys??? Maybe the programmer got his codes a bit mixed up. I mean shoot button / drive button could easily be mixed up.

Definitely, using R2 while pressing the shoot button improves the shot dramatically, I've checked it myself. Feels awkward and unnecessary IMO. Try it and post your results..

sorry, but this is definitly false!
you will recognize it when playing training-mode as i described above.
when you replay a scene, and you always do exacly the same, then you will notice that also the result is always the same. so how can this bis "completely random"???

im tired of trying to show you all details wich are affecting a shoot but i cant leave so much ignorance alone!
your shot will become less accurate when you:
are running.
try to shoot while the ball is directly on your foot.
try to shoot while the ball is too far away, so you only touch the ball slightly with your forefoot.
are under pressure.
run out of stamina.
try to shoot while turning.
try to shoot from an angle >45°.
try to shoot directly after a hard shift in direction or feint.

so when you try to keep that mind, (what should be no problem if you know how football/soccer is played), then you will notice that shooting in pes6 is not "completely random"!!!

That is smashing advice and I had forgot that facility was there. However I still dont agree the shooting is near perfect and that trajectory to the moon isnt right when you get your shot wrong. And do those same rules not apply when you shoot from 25-30 yards? As has been said before a lot of those situations in the box you would get a weak shot off in the correct general direction. So for those who want to put up with the in my opinion flawed system then that practice system is excellent and I wish it was in Fifa so I could work on other things (not the shooting).

There is definitely a problem with the shooting system. If there wasn't why would so many people say there was. FACT.

Practice practice, yeah yeah yeah. Fact is, when you playing a match and press the shoot button the ball is so unpredictable as to where it goes.

Dude, go get a football and find some goals. Stand 20 yards out and kick the ball while trying to get it airborne. If you're lucky it'll go in, but more likely it'll go flying away.

Now imagine trying to thread your way through a 4 man defense and kicking through a narrow angle, all the while hoping that your shot will beat the keeper.

Football isn't about screaming long range shots. Only a select few are experts at this. Try watching some football highlights and you'll see that over 70% of all goals come from 2-3 meters out from goal from clever teamwork. Play the game as it SHOULD be played :P

The shooting system is screwed up,but hey either we go and make a soccer sim which is perfect or we ignore the shortcomings of pes and play it as we wait for the next iteration of the game.
