somehow that same defence managed to hold Bayern Munich to one goal and stopped Porto as well.

Madrid needs another centre-back and right back, but their defence as it exists is not as terrible as people say, it certainly has been good enough to lead La Liga for two years and make it to the CL semis and quarters.
Teams don't do that with a terrible defence.

I don't think all real madrid defence is crap. I like Salgado and Helguera. IMO the defence is crap because they don't have deffensive midfielders(Makelele).
