Australia vs Italy

Hello to all, the game was a very good game by the Australians and the way people talked, it was that the Italians should have beaten the Ozzies by a mile, instead, the Ozzies did a fine job and really kicked the Italians backs sides to the fullest. The Ref should indeed have his eye balls checked as the penalty given, even by a blind man, he would say how could that be a penalty. In most of the worlds eyes, l think we all know who the real winners here are, and by far it is the Australians. A Ref like that should himself be penalized for such serious errors and be made to pay a fine of a very large amount to correct their stupid mistakes. Even the red card given to the Italians was a no no, once again, have your eyes checked! Well if FIFA really cared about the game, they would look into this and award extra time to the game and give the game a real ending, not this fake make ending.
Thank you and may the Master bless you all!

Wrong forum man. This is for the game FIFA 06. You're looking for the Soccer Forum, which is the very top forum on the board index.

hey man, i think ur still very immature by blamming stuff on the refree, if u dont like his decision and cant get over with it, then too bad soccer is not the sport to you.

it was the aussies fault not scoring a goal against 10 men italy for 40 minutes and on the second half they barely have a shot on goal so boohoo and go home, italy was the better side imho and by the fact 59%-41% possession ? tsk tsk

Italy was the better side, but Australia played well enough to stop them scoring, and if it weren't for the poor refereeing decision, Australia probably would have won in extra time (very fit side, two substitutions left, penalty shootout experience).

But it's true that we can't blame the ref, watching the replay in slow motion showed that it wasn't a penalty, but Lucas Neil took a risk by going to ground - unfortunately it didn't pay off.

But none of that matters anyway, becuase we are out, and there's nothing we can do about it.

We need to focus on the positives: We played very well, gained a lot of respect, have taken the game to new levels in Australia, and most importantly we gave it our all. Going forward, I believe we can improve and go further in 2010 (many of our better players will still be there, plus we have some very solid young players coming through), and hopefully this is just the first step on the road to claiming the ultimate prize.

I'd rather an referee decision go against us now, than when we are really challenging to win the World Cup.

Italians show poor sportsmanship

Italians maybe good at soccer, but are very poor at sportsmanship. Their only mottos in life is win by any means, even if that means cheating. And cheating they are better at, than soccer.

I also dont like the fact that they looked down on the American soccer Team. I hope they loose and have a humiliating defeat in the next round.

ITALIAN SOCCER TEAM, SHAME ON YOU. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE SOCCER SPORT.

A team unable to dominate and score in 11 vs 10 does not deserve to win the match. I don't see where the lack of "sportmanship" is in the italian match of yesterday: the penalty can be a generous penalty but is not a fault from the italian players indeed, maybe from Medina Cantalejo; anyway another error of Cantalejo and a good stunt-man diving by Bresciano left Italy without player when the match was firmly in the hands of the Azzurri (6 occasions vs 1 in the first half, 1 vs 0 in the first 5 minutes of the second half): Italy played as they know: a great defense and counterattacks through good mid-forwarders in the midfield, the problem of Italy yesterday was just a bad inspiration day for Luca Toni who is used to score at least one of the many occasions he had.

do you happen to be a 12 year old who cant control his emo ?

maybe some people should learn sportsmanship by admitting the defeat and respecting the referee's decision

The refereing has been nothing short of a joke this world cup, so much so that it has really overshadowed any of the teams performances, they strut around as though they are superstars, but really have no idea how to handle games at this level, the italian sending off, wrong, no more than a bookable offence, the penalty, no more than obstruction, AUS V CRO rugby tackle on viduka in the box , not given, 3 yellow cards to one player !!!, as quoted from the sun newspaper '3 card thick' and thats about one of the premerships top refs, it's hard to have respect for the referee, when he doesn't have respect for the game
