Here's a list of players with low salary & high performance:
1. Lee Chun Soo (Korea) - 150
2. Lee Young Pyo (Korea) - 192
3. Song Chung Gug (Korea) - 160 (forgot exact amount)
4. Yung Chan Sul (Korea) - 170
5. Akita (Japan) - 100
6. Hattori (Japan) - 100
7. Alex Santos (Japan) - 100
8. Inamoto (Japan) - 100
9. Ahn Yan Wang (Korea) - 150
Here's a list of the PRICEY world class players but worth every cent:
1. Lucio (Brasil) - 700*
2. Ferdinand (MUFC) - 750* (Good at 1 on 1 stopping)
3. Campell (Arsenal) - 850*
4. Vieira (Arsenal) - 1200-1400* (Very high work rate)
5. Larsson (Celtic) - 1200* (Very consistent in attack)
6. Salas (Forgot, is not with a club) - 850 (Consistent shooting)
7. Trezeguet (Juventus) - 1100* (Excellent all round player)
8. Shearer (Newcastle) - 1200* (Read 'Trezeguet')
9. Hakan Unsal - 550* (Unstoppable on the left wing)
And here's a list of players that atleast I found absolutely useless inspite of their high price tag:
1. Beckham (Real) - 1400-1600*
2. Scholes (MUFC) - 850* (Not sure) (Just can't attack the ball)
3. Doni (Italy) - 550 (Read 'Scholes')
4. Heaps of forwards that I can't remember now. They have abilities that work like magic for computer but are useless for human players.
Anyways, these are just my personal observations after wheeling and dealing in some 20+ ML seasons. Countless conditional searches and what not. Hope its useful to someone in the next transfer window (New pes/we players?).
Note: Mix the slightly-above-average Korean and Japanese players with some pricey world class players and you should have a great team with good substitutes costing 300-400 salary points per week.
*Player salary varies from time to time.
