Nurnberg want Rau

Rau moved to the club last season as a replacement for veteran Bixente Lizarazu. However since joining the squad he has failed to make his mark in the team, being unable to establish himself as a first team regular.

"Yes," Bayern's board chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge answered when asked about the interest in Rau.

"Nurnberg are interested, but it's up to the player himself what he wants to do."

The German international has made just four appearances this season under coach Felix Magath, however he is looking likely to make the starting line-up on Wednesday night against Ajax with Bayern already safely through to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

"This game is a big chance for me," Rau admitted.
