The German Wunderboy Lukas Podolski

He is nineteen-years-old and the star of his club. People are already comparing him to England's Wayne Rooney. He's been called a young Giggs but Lukas Podolski is keeping his feet on the ground.
Scored 19 Goals in 21 Matches on 2nd Divison and 5 Goals for Germany in 8 Matches

Podolski is supposed to come in 2007 as Makaay's successor, but he has not signed a contract yet. :jap:

This guy is a wonderkid, he will be Germany's next worldclass striker.

He's originally from Poland. God damn Polish players with German passports always turning their backs on us... :boohoo:

I heard this is pretty much a done deal... Podolski's an FM legend, therefore he must be good in real life (H)

Bro that sucks. I would fvcking go bananas if that kid was Peruvian opted for Germany instead of his birth country.. i'd probably go as far as to go to Germany and hunt him down, snipe that bastard... but thank God he's not Peruvian. :)
Anyways, what other poles have opted to play for Germany in the past?

Klose is Polish too I think. Neuville is Swiss. Bobic is some former Yugo country I believe. And Asamoah and Owowhatever have black origins.

Yeah, Klose is polish. He was approached by Polish Football Association sometime before WC 2002, and he said NO. That bastard!
After that he didn't even want to talk in polish, when some nwaspaper wanted to do an interview with him. It's not like he doesn't know polish, he was born here and lived here for quite a few years. If Paul Freier can speak polish (He has some roots here) even though he was born in Germany (if I'm not wrong) then why Klose cannot?

Michael Delura is a bit like that, he's German with a Polish passport, but he still can switch to Poland ;) He is still playing for German U-20. :)

And Piotr Trochowski (ex Bayern AFAIR, he has chosen Germany), Danny Szetela (He's American/Polish and wants to play for us) & c*apload more of players like this playing in the Bundesliga (mostly). A lot of them was born in Poland but for most of their lives they lived in Germany.

Haha VERY true. CM/FM discover players way before they make it in real life.

Podolski was already very good last year, but on Cm03/04 he was absolute crap. So FM made him very good, AFTER he was discovered.

I liked the guy though, which is very rare for me, I tend to hate german players, and I wouldnt like to see him at Bayern.

Haha let's turn this into a FM discussion lads :) (just jokin' don't worry)

But the truth is Robben, Martins, Cristiano Ronaldo and so on where all great in CM before beeing discovered by the real world. Maybe one day we'll see Maxim run on the fields of Barcelona or something. :)

Zidane was born in Algeria.

Polish players playing for Germany - a complicated topic. You always gotta consider that most parts of today's Poland were German until the end of the third Reich. Most Germans left (were banished fits better here) their old homes but about 1 million stayed. Because nationalities were often mixed.

Klose's parents are Polish, yet his grandma was German.
