Wenger may 'look at' Beckham swoop


Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could 'look at' the possibility of signing England captain David Beckham this summer.

Beckham, 29, is currently with Spanish giants Real Madrid and has often been linked with a move back to the Premiership since leaving Manchester United in 2003.

Wenger is quoted in the News of the World: 'We will have some money to spend in the summer and if there was a chance to sign David Beckham, we would look at it.

'If the situation arises that it is possible, why not?'

Beckham played for Madrid in their 2-0 win over Real Sociedad yesterday, closing the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona to three points.

How do you think I felt when I watched "Bend it like Beckham". I swear, having to see that creep's beaming face so much nearly drove me crazy. :taz:. You barely even hear his name anymore, he practically died.

i don't see Becks moving to Arse. And the source, omg, News of the World = :sb9:. He seems happy in Madrid, Arsenal doesn't have the $$$ to buy him and we don't want/need any of their players in exchange.

Yup. Arsenal will then become chick favorites(H). & they'll sell a ton of shirts & generate enough cash to complete their stadium(Y). & beckham might even do better than henry with the freekicks. A perfect buy for arsenal.............

I do not see him going anywhere soon, he seems to be happy in Madrid and has recently been playing like he wants to stay so i really would doubt a return to England and espically doubt seeing him in and Arsenal kit

The guy is now so universally recognized as overrated, hes practically underrated. I dont have any personal regard for him, but i dont hate his guts for any particular reason either. In any event, i think this rumor , or the idea that he's available stems from the fact that a few months ago he was utter crap. Now he looks to have turned a corner in Madrid, and i say, let him stay there 4 or 5 more years: with his brainpower, hes gonna need that just to figure how to say "im in a loveless marriage with an ice queen" in halfway decent spanish
