madrid has a good youth system, and they have their shot.. Guti, minanbres, raul bravo, sure they are not playing much right now.. but they are still young.. and zidane is in his 30's figo is in his 30's and they both will be gone when their contract runs out, if they dont take a huge paycut..

anyway.. Beckham costed less than figo, or zidane or ronaldo. I think zidane has 2 more years, and figo may be about the same..

It would be interesting to see the training sessions at Madrid, what with Zidane, Ronaldo, Raul, Figo, Carlos, etc all doing magical dribbling, tricks, shimmies, spins, dummies, etc and then turning to Beckham and saying "ok Davey, show us what you can do".

"I can hit dead balls" he'd sheepishly reply.

At club level, I am gonna put the example of my club. Athletic Bilbao, no foreigners, no big money spending every year, most of the players come from the lower teams, and we have a chance to make the uefa cup this season, 4 yrs ago, we made the champions league when only the top 2 in la liga made it in... and we have never been relegated to 2nd division as well as r.madrid and barcelona..

Anyway to go back, Beckham will bring a great fan base to Real (which they don't really need) and ultimately more money (again which they don't really need). Good investing I guess but still.... :kader:

Yea. Never used to be in the old days tho. Just used to be about the game but times have chnaged. Deals like this make the game exciting but still takes away the ''magic'' a little.
