Best GamePad for the coming PES 3 on PC?

Here's what I've tried so far for WE/PES games via the emulator. I prefer to control players via the D-pad as opposed to an analog stick, I find I can dribble more precisely that way:

AxisPad from Interact
-------------------------------------------------------------
This one is a dog, at least as far as the D-Pad goes. It's set up exactly like a PS2 controller (4-button, L1/L2/R1/R2, dual analog sticks), but the D-pad isn't comfortable at all. Going in the diagonal directions is easy, but straight up, down, left, or right is very difficult due to the rounded nature of the control. I bought this specifically to play WE/PES games via the emulator, and was unfortunately disappointed.

Logitech Wingman GamePad
-------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I'm currently using. It's D-Pad is very comfortable, but unfortunately it only has a single flipper button on each side (L1/R1) on the top. It has 6 standard buttons instead of 4, so I had to map L2/R2 to the extra two. This is OK for the PS1, where L2/R2 don't have as many functions as the PS2 version. But I'm afraid it won't suffice when PES 3 hits the PC. It also only has 1 analog stick, but this might work out OK when used as the "Right Analog". The D-Pad is excellent for dribbling.

I'm thinking I may just purchase a PS2 controller with a PC converter online. What are you guys using/going to use?

Totally agree with that Axis pad dude. I have it on the PC and used to play PES2 on the ePSXe emulator with it. Awesome pad, feels great and for those used to the PS2 pads, it's perfect.
LOL, actually man I hate it (if you read the first line of the post, I called it a 'dog'!). The D-Pad on that thing sucks! Everything else about it is nice though. But I just can't dribble with it, and that's the most important thing to me!

Microsoft Sidewinder (the "classic" version) is still the king... no analog stuff but it still kicks ass.

I got me a Genious G-08 on a sale for 8 bucks and it gets the job done.

Pads these days are very expensive... everytime I get enough money I always think "new pad or new game?".

New game wins! (H)

There are some pretty nice Gamepads in the shop in the mall here. They cost like $30 canadian. I am planning on obtaining one once Fifa comes (albeit I'll use it mostly for PES3 ;-)).

Keep us posted on what you buy and how it performs.

I'll definitely be grabbing a PS2 to USB converter so this got my attention.

Anyone else know about this, are there some dodgy brands we should avoid?
Better yet does anyone own one that they would recommed?

What emulator are you talking about? Is this a PS- or a PS2-emulator? I can't play WE7 with my PC?

That's very similar to the WingMan ActionPad I have. I believe there are only 2 total flipper buttons up top (L1/R1) instead for 4 (L1/R1/L2/R2).

Someone posted a picture of another logitech pad (in a different thread, here http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77706&perpage=15&pagenumber=5 - 2nd post from the bottom) that looks very much like a PS2 controller. It's D-Pad is the same as mine, which for me is key for dribbling. That may be one to check out, as long as it has 4 flippers up top.

You have a point... Kinda stupid of me really (:/).

Well it's a pretty normal PS2-like controller with 2 analog sticks, and all the other buttons too. It's USB. And it costs $30-40 canadian. I think it's by microsoft. I recommend it to you.

It's like the one in the picture posted in the long thread...

I really think you should give saitek gamepads a try. They're cheap and one of the greatest gamepads I used. They're as good as logitech and other quality gamepads, and cheaper.

That logitech pad looks very very promising and logitech never let me down. I am not sure about the adapter. But it will be cool. But 1st let's wait for the game and we will play it with the mouse if it's need!
