Here's what I've tried so far for WE/PES games via the emulator. I prefer to control players via the D-pad as opposed to an analog stick, I find I can dribble more precisely that way:
AxisPad from Interact
-------------------------------------------------------------
This one is a dog, at least as far as the D-Pad goes. It's set up exactly like a PS2 controller (4-button, L1/L2/R1/R2, dual analog sticks), but the D-pad isn't comfortable at all. Going in the diagonal directions is easy, but straight up, down, left, or right is very difficult due to the rounded nature of the control. I bought this specifically to play WE/PES games via the emulator, and was unfortunately disappointed.
Logitech Wingman GamePad
-------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I'm currently using. It's D-Pad is very comfortable, but unfortunately it only has a single flipper button on each side (L1/R1) on the top. It has 6 standard buttons instead of 4, so I had to map L2/R2 to the extra two. This is OK for the PS1, where L2/R2 don't have as many functions as the PS2 version. But I'm afraid it won't suffice when PES 3 hits the PC. It also only has 1 analog stick, but this might work out OK when used as the "Right Analog". The D-Pad is excellent for dribbling.
I'm thinking I may just purchase a PS2 controller with a PC converter online. What are you guys using/going to use?
