I think you'll find it'll still get owned in games by 6800 series/ X800/X850 series

X850XT PE is 8 billion texels and a bandwidth of 35gb/sec iirc

Ati rocked again With X850XTPE 512mb. Though i guess it won't make any difference again since games are not designed for 512. jsut like with 256.

there is one game acutaly. Doom3. 512mb for ultra high detail mode

6800-series (ultra/gt i think) have been confirmed for 512mb, its the NV48 series. Last refresh before the new cards.

Although it seems the new cards will again push the limits ksy high again, apparantly the X950 offers 3 times the performance of the X800 vanilla

yep u are right. When i first saw that doom3 requires 512 on ultra detail i thought that we will never see it because i expected a 512 gfx about late 2007. Though ati won me.

i only have the n-vida FX5700ultra and it works fantastic 356 million vertices/sec and a bandwidth of 28gb/sec too, this card runs all my games great even doom 3.

best buy i ever made but i want to up grade to a 6800ultra as soon as i can.

I wouldn't, wait for the next batch of cards, they'll be here soon.

Just get a GT and overclock to Ultra speeds if you must and save yourself £100, plus the GT has tighter memory timings

yep ... and I'll buy a Leadtek GeForce PX6800 X800 PCI-E ; and I'll overclock it to Quadro 4000 PCI-E ... the performances of the two card (Quadro 4000 and overclocked GeForce 6800) are almost same ... and with this overclock ; I can use Maxtreme drivers also ... but not a "hardware" overclock ; just software ... but I can't find this card in Turkey ... so I must wait 15 days for it ...

yep ; you can via RivaTuner ... search it on the web ... I think you can overclock it to Quadro FX 3000 ... but I'm not pretty sure ...

You can use nVidia Coolbits to overclock, my XFX went to 600 core / 1.2ghz memory. (6600GT PCI-E)

That has to be the most confusing name, a PX6800 X800? Not seen it, the Leadtek's here are just called 6800/6800GT/6800Ultra. I'm not following you on "overclocking to a quadro" - I take it that you are saying that you overclock the card to give the same fill rate etc. as a quadro, because IIRC the quadro has a different architecture. Certainly with the earlier GeForces (gf2, fx) you could do a hardware modification to make the PC recognise it as a quadro, but because the 6800 series architecture is so different I believe that there isn't a quadro with the same architecture and hence you can't "overclock to a quadro" per se. You can overclock 6800GT-> ultra and beyond, or softmod a 6800->gt/u.

no no no ... you can overclck it via hadware ; you can change the IIRC ; there was a construction manual for that in a forum ; but now I don't remember ... I've seen it in my friend's computer ... but it's too risky ... but it takes as same as performance like Quadro ... but I said ; hardware overclock it's too risky ... I will make an software overclock (it's not a real overclock ; yes) and I will open some configuration for using Maxtreme drivers for 3DS Max ... and I'm sorry it's not x800 ... X800 is a mark of different part ... yep ; it's 6800GT but PCI-E ... not A440 ...

Don't do it! The FX series were/are notoriously poor performers.

If you can stretch to a Quadro or a workstation card, go for it.

If you are looking in the <£150 category the GeForce 6600GT is your best bet.

Can ayone here run Fifa05 on MSI's 6800LE? cos i cant even with the latest drivers the game just freezes and then the monitor shuts down and i have to hard restart, but CNC generals and zero hour run well on it.
