To clear things up, those figures are not what clubs pay their players. It's their yearly income, so that means also ads and stuff. The "product" Beckham is one of the best marketed items in the world. He gets paid because of companies using him to sell their products, so he deserves every penny of it.

Are you sure about that? I'm actually pretty sure that they get a lot more from all the off-the-pitch contracts...Something like Ronaldo's contract with NIKE, 60m in 4 seasons, so that would give him a lot more than 11m per season

I thought so. I'm not really sure but I believe I read somewhere that all the Real stars earn more then the highest paid players at ManUtd.

Because he was great at Leeds, and for England at the World Cup....United bought him after that, so had to offer him an amount according to that form....Plus he is well known, young and at Manchester United (as much as Real fans disagree-Man Utd is the most known club around the globe-doesnt mean its the best)...This means endorsements is higher for him too

No, Recoba had the highest club contract. Im sure Beckham still would have earnt much more as overal income (fom endorsements, ads etc)

These are not just the wages from contracts (Real players earn double what anyone else earns in that department) this is also for endorsing product and getting paid to make appearences, interviews...total earnings basically.
