there are so many great strikers from the last 35 years.....what makes a striker a great striker???ballhandling,instinct,success, deadly goals,great goals..??

in my opinion gerd müller was the best pure striker ever..not talented like allaround striker van basten but with more instinct,more success and more goals...

he scored 10 goals WC 1970 inclusive 2 hattricks against peru and bulgaria.gamewinner against defending worldchampion england (3:2 win after 120 minutes)...2 goals against italy in the game of the century for worldcup games (4:3 loss after 120 minutes in the semifinal)..

gerd müller is still the leader with the most goals in WC games...14 goals...

he has unbelievable 68 goals in 62 games for team germany...unfortunately he never has played again for the nationalteam germany after the worldcup win against holland...

gerd müller was player of the year in europe 1970 and won the golden boot in europe 1970 and 1972

he won with bayern munich the championsliga in europe 1974,1975,1976...won olso the eurocup for cup winners 1967 with munich and the worldcup against the best american clubteam 1976...

gerd müller has the most goals in eurocup and
championliga games history...66 goals in 74 games...

he is the alltimescorer in germany..in 427 german liga games he has scored 365 goals..


he was 7 times the player with the most goals in the german liga...

I immediatly thought about "the bomber" Muller when i saw the title of the thread. I think almost everyone knows his achievements. His "killer instinct" made him one of the best strikers in Europe´s history. Too bad i didn´t get to see him play.
About the players i had the privelege to watch them play i gotta say that Van Basten and Jean Pierre Papin have always been amongst my favourites.

i cant belive that anybody hasnt even meniton Hugo Sanchez he was awesome its part of RM best XII in all times, i mean he could make any type of a goals he won 5 times the pichichi in spains so must of you only think in europeans and thats sad. Maybe no teh best but he is in the top 5 at least he was a 100% natural stricker
