I've tried installing an ATI Radeon 9700 graphics card on my sister's PC, but as soon as Windows XP starts, the screen goes black and to standby mode, and I can't do anything.

It worked fine until I installed the drivers for the graphics card. I've also tried uninstalling them and installing them again, but with no success. And I've got the newest drivers.

Does anyone know what can be wrong?

try installing some older drivers....also check ur monitor settings...setting too high a refresh rate can cause some trouble.
