26 June, 2000 (London) Brazil's congress passed a series of measures last week (June 19-23), which, if signed by president Fernando Cardoso, would effectively annul the Pele Law, which requires Brazilian football clubs to be run on a commercial footing.
As well as revoking the requirement for clubs to become companies, the package includes a ban on investors owning more than 49% of a club, a ban on TV stations sponsoring teams, and a new system under which players are bound to their clubs for at least four years.

Under the law drafted by Pele, the former sports minister, Brazilian players, previously bound to their clubs until the age of 30, are due to become free agents in March of next year. Pele is calling on the president to veto the measures.

What kind of law is this ? Until the age of 30 ? What's going on ?
