This stadium is a great little stadium.. i'm happy for the Rhinos and their fans... they really deserve it.

I wish the Rhinos played closer to me (NYC area) :( Even though my team is Metros, it's kinda hard to really like them because its not like they're really a New York team... i mean, they're in New Jersey for crying out loud! And I hate that $hit!
The Rhinos are in New York though, even if they're in the boonies, still a great team. ANyways, i'm hoping for New York to get a real New York team in the future. I know there's been talk of it happening soon.. but with two new expansion teams added, it will probably be a long time before that happens. Also, Metros are moving far from me, deeper in to New Jersey... its' gonna be really hard to follow the Metros... actually i'm starting not like them. :(

Anyways, enough of my ramblings... great to see Rhinos doing the RIGHT thing though... and let's hope to see them in the MLS in the near future.

You obviously haven't been to Western NY, the boonies are in the Southerntier in the Adirondack region.

Stadium Construction Moving Forward

The future home of the Rochester Rhinos is starting to take shape.

The steel that will be the stadium's foundation is being put into place.

“After five years of effort, a lot of satisfaction coming here,”said Rhinos owner Frank DuRoss.

Progress is also being made in Louisville, Kentucky where contractors hired by the Rhinos are building most of the stadium's framework

30 flatbed trucks will carry it here.

After learning the soil at their stadium site wasn't suitable for digging, the Rhinos went with an above ground stadium.

They chose a group that could build it indoors and off site.

Right now the plan is for the stadium to be complete in late August 2005 in time for at least one Rhinos game, but the weather is going to play a major role in whether or not that happens. Project executive John Barrett says crews will begin pouring concrete as early as February. While his team will work in any weather, cold temperatures make things more difficult.

“It's just slower,” said Barrett “Productivity drops. We have to put plastic around the work area. Sometimes, we have to introduce heat into those areas. All those things take time.”

As well as extra money. DuRoss has already shelled out millions more than first planned because of the site's environmental issues.

“We gave our commitment that we would fund any cost overruns with this stadium, and we're sticking to our commitment. “We've done that to date and we will continue to do that.”

Click on to the above OFOTO site to view new construction photos of PAETEC Park. Despite 50 inches of snow over the last three weeks...and sub-zero temperatures....work continued at the stadium. Looks like the North Endzone stand support structures have been completed. All cement post have been built...and a new aggregrate surface has been applied and compacted. Heavy cement form work continues on the larger and higher western stands. Also ...work continues on the eastern stands. The Empire plastic building has been emptied...ready for re-construction which will convert the tool and die shop into the Rhino's HQ/locker rooms/ticket office. Looks like all aspects of PAETEC park is going forward. I wonder how soon the steel stadium componets will arrive onsite? The North endzone looks like it could start steel work very soon!

My friend was in the PAETEC Park area this afternoon...and saw a couple trucks entering PAETEC Park....he was fortunate to have his digital camera with him. Click on the above site to view eleven photos taken this afternoon...March 7, 2005. The first photo is directed towards the South....viewing the western Stands. The next photos show the trucks being unloaded with the dark green stadium steel components. It still looks like they may be starting on the western stands. It is nice to now see tangible standium activity with the arrival of the structural steel.

i don't know if it's been said, but when is Paetec supposed to be finished? i'm anxious for it's arrival, i hate frontier field. that's the main reason that i don't go to very many games.

It is scheduled to be finished in August, they backloaded as many homes games as possible to try to play as many games in the new stadium, if you ever plan on going to a game, PM me or something, I can show you a good time there.

The stadium is really moving along now, in this first picture if you look about 3 bloacks behind the stadium a little to the left you can see their current home frontier field which is a baseball stadium.
