If I understand your question correctly...once your bid for a player is rejected by the COM, you have to wait an additional week to make another bid on the same player.

I have had a problem when I traded a player for Borja at Real Madrid I think I paid 3,500 points in the end for him - but my player has gone to real but Borja has gone from Real but not come to my team - Have I been conned??
You can only renegotiate contracts at renewal time, that is, once your player has one year left on his contract, or during the off season of that year. For your better players you don't want to wait till the off season because somebody will hire them away.
To look for players nearing the end of their contract do a conditional search. Use the contract length field and put in a min. of 1 and a max. of 1. That will display all players in the last year of their contracts, hence players that will be free agents by season's end.

That's bizarre. I haven't seen anything like that happen. Maybe the contract length was set to 1 year and he got hired away by some other team as a free agent? Probably not, but just an idea. Try to do a search for him to see where he ended up.

A quick way to check contract lengths of your squad -- in addition to using conditional search -- is to go to the release screen in negotiations. Your squad'll come up, hit R2 or whatever the button and you'll get the salary/contract length info screen.
As mentatyp said, if you don't renegotiate with your better players as soon as is possible, they'll get free transfer offers -- and off they go usually.
Of course, use the free transfer system to your advantage, as well. I bid high on the best free transfer players possible and turn right around and sell them to the COM as soon as I get offers. It's the closest thing to printing money in this game.
It all evens out with the bastard COM, however.
For example, I have the "player condition" setting on random. Last night, I got 5! players in ass-poor condition one game (arrow pointing straight down to hell) and routinely get 1-2 player arrows pointing down to hell per game. WE6 COM was never this brutal. Anyone else notice this?

Ya. Last season I aquired Rio Ferdinand. I was excited, my team was excited, the supporters were excited. I guess Rio wasn't too thrilled however. He showed up to the first game out of form. Give me a damm break. I just made him rich as hell and he has the gall to show up out of shape!
Or perhaps the computer was messin with me.
If you think you've signed a player, but he hasn't shown up yet, don't worry--you haven't been conned. What is most likely the case is that you signed someone who is in the final year of their contract and who will only be released at the end of the season. He should show up in your squad once the new season begins.
Oh hell yes. I turned off the "accumulated fatigue" since it doesn't affect the COM teams, and it seems like almost every game, my whole team routinely suffers from a case of "The Arrows". I had one game where I literally had all but about 4 players with blue or grey arrows. I normally try to avoid playing guys in that situation but in this case I had no choice but to play some of them. Consequently, I got my ass handed to me that game. But every game, I have most of my bench filled with "Arrow Guys", which leaves me with no subs for some games. It really sucks when you're trying to win and keep getting "Arrow****ed" by the CPU.
