Borussia Dortmund (full name Ballspiel-Verein Borussia 1909 e.V. Dortmund, often short BV is a German football team based in Dortmund. They play in the Bundesliga, and have achieved international success. The football department is the most famous of the club, but it also has a handball and table tennis department.

The club was founded on December 19, 1909 in a room of the pub Zum Wildschütz in Dortmund. The name Borussia (latin for Prussia) was adopted from the nearby Borussia brewery. Borussia Dortmund was the first German football team to be placed on the stock market in 2000. In 2005, the club is on the brink of insolvency.

The club has the largest stadium in the Bundesliga, the 82,678 capacity Westfalenstadion, named after the Nordrhein-Westfalen region where the club was established. Current famous players include Jan Koller, Tomas Rosicky, Ewerthon and Christoph Metzelder.

The arch rival of Borussia is FC Schalke 04 of nearby Gelsenkirchen.

I love this seasons BVB jersey i seen people wear it at bars looks nice and shiny. the new ones aren't that great the black in the middle kills the jersey. Btw Hows Metz doing after his injury and also I saw highlights (i know i'am late ) but the GK u guys have is amazing is he from Germany? he should get a shot at the NT, that Mad Jens needs to go.

He's been ... exceptional. Granted, he was out injured for nearly a year and half. It's going to take Metze quite a while to regain back his full form. Once he's done that he'll be back to his brilliance.

As for Weiden, I regret talking smack about him. He's a totally different keeper as opposed to the one he was last year. I hope he keeps up this form for next season. We'll need those miracle saves from him.

The gk position is where Germany always had many worldclass players, that hasn't change.

6 good months don't get you a call-up. Lemon played well before joining Arsenal over a long period of time. He's not a crap keeper now either and he looked good in his last nt appearences.

Van Marwijk: contract exceeded until 2007

[28.05.] Borussia Dortmund keep up their successful coach: Bert van Marwijk´s contract has been exceeded in advance until June 30th, 2007. Especially BVB´s fantastic second legs series resulted in the extension. 53-year old van Marwijk had been hired in 2004.

"We´re very glad about the agreement which was tied without any hazards", chairman Dr. Rauball stated. "He´s got best professional and human skills. Additionally, he identifies best with Borussia Dortmund". "We´re glad our head coach acts in accordance to our recapitalisation concept", manager Watzke commented.

"Working with Bert means mutual confidence. I´m glad he stays for another two years. This is a proof of continuity", sports director Michael Zorc gave away. The coach himself shows up a high contentment as well: "I liked my work here best, also in bad times. My brilliant terms with the management, the team and the incredible supporters led me to an easy decision", van Marwijk said.

Same as the head coach, co-trainer Dick Voorn exceeded his contract until 2007 as well.

Dortmund finished the season well, thye didnt have a good start, or middle, but they look on the rigth track, I assume they will be in the Intertoto Cup

I think they will, Rosicky iI'm sure wants to go to a bigger club, and the signing of Buckley makes Koller moveable.

Rosicky is a question mark.

Koller is def. staying. How does the Buckley signing make him moveable? It makes Ewerthon moveable, not Koller. Plus Buckley has tons to prove in order to take over Koller. Hell he has to prove at least something to even take over Ewerthon who sucks big donkey balls.
