Cagliari

vs.

AC Milan

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TEAM NEWS

Cagliari will field a similar side to that which defeated Brescia in their last match. However, they will be without team leading scorer Mauro Esposito, as he was shown the red card against Brescia.

Milan will most likely field a full strength side, although the full allotment of substitutions may be used, as they play Barcelona in a midweek Champions League fixture. Filippo Inzaghi has achieved full fitness, and will be ready to reclaim his rightful place as one of the best goal poachers in the world.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Gianfranco Zola (Cagliari) - After grabbing his first goal of the season in their last match, albeit a penalty, he will try to put one or more past his former manager at Parma, Carlo Ancelotti, who is now in charge of Milan.

Andriy Shevchenko (Milan) - With recent speculation listing him among the favorites for European Player of the Year, he will look to solidify his place at the top of the list.

POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s

Cagliari (4-4-2): Katergiannakis; Pisano, Loria, Bega, Agostini; Gobbi, Conti, Albino, Del Nevo; Zola, Langella

Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kaka; Shevchenko, Inzaghi

damn it the pitch is all smokey and it's not clear to see what's happening. I'm still grateful to be seeing Milan play though.

Zola looks in good shape.

AC Milan, in honesty, are lucky not to have given away a foul on the edge of the penalty box. It was a clear foul but referee didn't give it.

Sigh of relief. (H)

yeh it's good atmosphere, the Cagliari crowd hasn't been silenced. The pitch has cleared up a lot as well, it's easier to watch it now.

half time.

Gotta agree there. It was so blatant that even Kaladze pointed to the referee (he was afraid of the penalty so he told the ref it was outside the area). The referee still didnt give the foul.:crazyboy:

Despite me being a Milan fan, i think that if i was the referee, i would probably give him a straight red, as he was the last man and it was a clear opportunity at goal. Anyway, we're not doing bad, Pirlo scored a nice goal and we're not playing some influential players like Cafú, Gattuso and Kaká, so i'm satisfied.

Costacurta is worrying me though, someone pacey on the left wing and we might have some problems.

yeah we must be resting players for Barcelona. Smart decision, our second-string team can beat Cagliari anyway. Kaka will probably come on as a substiute in the second half and I think it would be a good time to give Crespo a run, what's the point having a player if he won't play? Inzaghi will probably come on too.

On second viewing of Pirlo's goal I have to say the defenders were nothing more than dribbling cones. :p They just stood there and let him go past.

Either way I'm not complaining. (H)

Is Crespo even on the bench? The narrator here for ESPN said he was injured or something. Even so, Tomasson isnt doing bad today, he's participating on a lot of plays, i wouldnt change the team at least for now.

ohh ok I must've missed that.

Every time Cagliari get a chance the Milan defence just completely outclasses them. Can't see them scoring really.

Milan will maybe get one more goal, late in the last 15 mins or so.

Yep, we have to close the gap on Juve. Kaká was pretty decent from the time he got to play, also, i liked Brocchi very much today.
