can you dribble past players?

I cant dribble past players. In 2003 it was too easy, and now maybe too hard? Freestyle move doesnt seem to work. Can anyone do it? Explain how if you can please.

i wish i knew. when i press free style (shift) the player act crazy i can´t control it i goes in any direction and i´m doing it with rui costa so i thing he has good dribble in status.ha and i never dribble a defender.
so its too hard EA goes from 8 to 80 f2003 too easy now too hard

you can't take defenders on for some reason.

1. a quick change of direction followed by a sprint doesn't work, mainly due to the sluggishness and unresponsiveness of the players.

2. as far as anyone knows, you cannot perform a stepover or shimmy.

u can try the shift button, but make sure u hold it down until u get past the defender totally...if u are lucky(abt 50%), u will go past the defender by holding the shift button, make sure u get off the tussle...
oh btw, any one noes how to really get off a tussle and free frpom that defender

There's a few cool skills you can do, I've done a skill where the player did like a step over then pushed the ball forward, or something like that... :crazyboy:

Looked cool tho.

I THOUGT THEY WERE PUTTING MORE SKILLS BUT NOW THEY EVEN DONT HAVE THE 2003 SKILLS!!!!

FIFA 98 IS THE BEST EVER!! YOU COULD DO AWESOME DRIBBLINGS IN IT!!

this is how i got pass the defender.. altho' i have absolutely no clue on how did i do it..

the defender tackles.
i didn't lose my balance.
however, the defender lost his.
he can't control the ball.
i got back the ball.
went for goal.

Allright gyus i got one.--, it s not exactly dribbling like in F2003 but it does the efect.
Try with the winger for example to trick the opponent by going in regular speed, faking with the slow button (c) for a moment ant then directionaly press the speed button. With that trick combining it with the freestyle button i passed even 3 players in the winger area before i crossed the ball.

ive done skill when i held the close control button and then moved the right alnalogue stick and he dragged it back and did a flick through the defenders legs, but all i did was move the right analogue randomly, i did a 360 like that as well, but most of the time he just does a feint that the defender NEVER falls for.

Well now over to the Off the ball control, is it possible to make the player you've selected to run so you can pass through the defenders. ex. i press z and in some way i make that chosen player run towards the goal. Is it possible ?

For keyboard, C slows u down then use Shift+directions for freestyle

(you could also simply use c+direction...but no slick moves here though)
