I am trying to reinstall these games on my pc. I get to around 40% installed for both games and a blue screen comes up and the pc reboots. I don't have time to read the blue screen as it disappears quickly before restarting. Any help appreciated.

I have run a virus and spyware check.

I have few questions before i can somehow help:

1. Are the copy of the game is legal? Cause if it's pirate or been used before it might have problems.

2. So you are having problems with installing or reinstalling? If you didn't tried to reinstall yet do it now. And make sure you delete any folder, if there is already been created one during instalation.

3. Also try to put the disks in different drivers, if you have more then one driver. Try dvd-rom cause it's faster.

4. Take a screenshot when error massege appears and let's read what it says.

100% legal versions of both games. I am currently running spybot and doing a thorough virus scan on my computer.

My PC is acting normal other than when I try and re-install these games. I have deleted any files relating to the previous install of fifa06 an the Wcup06 game.

I cannot let you know what the blue screen is saying as it shows up for less than a second before my machine reboots at 40% install for both games.

Anymore advice appreciated. I had fully completed both games so deleted them both but realised I still wanted to play them.

Look at the error code you get when the blue screen comes up.
Write This Stop Error Code down and then search microsoft for it. It should tell you what's causing the problem.
You can't take a screenshot unless you use a camera because when you get a blue screen, windows isn't there :)
It sounds most likely to be a driver problem... Hope this helps.

Managed to read the blue screen and it says error:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL

It then goes on to say about unistalling software or hardware or checking things in safe mode.

The only thing I have updated in the last week is my Nvidea drivers.

Any help appreciated.

For the future may I suggest that you stop your PC rebooting automatically when it gets a BSOD. Go to the computer properties page (press the Windows key and Pause/Break, or right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties), select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery box. In the resultant dialog remove the check mark next to Automatically restart in the System Failure section. Click on OK and from now on the BSOD will stay on screen until you manually reset.

Having made that change you might care to reproduce the error you are getting and carefully note down all of the information on the crash screen, including the affected program details.

Did you clean out the old driver before installing the new one (as per the install instructions)?? If not, then uninstall everything cleanly, restart with the base VGA drivers and then install the new nVidia drivers. If that doesn't clear the problem then uninstall the new drivers and revert back to the ones you were using before (or a release in between, if that is appropriate, especially if the new drivers are beta)

Ok I discovered the problem. I un-installed avast anti-virus and the game installed. Don't understand why the AV should stop it though. Thanks for your help.
