I will post some stupid people who somehow turned saint. to boost the demand for a music thread, I will require that the topic stay on about music.

I want to talk about mr. smells like teen spirit. yes, I want to talk about kurt cobain. I do not know why people still wear nirvana shirts today. why are there movies about him? what the hell is "grunge"? I would hate to live in seattle today, from the crappy-ass baseball team known as the mariners to the becoming of a mecca for this "grunge" genre. oh, and did I meantion it always rains in seattle? we all love him because he died, and somehow we want to get a hold of his unrealsed crap stuff that anyone sane wouldn't give a f*ck about.

speaking of seattle, my homie shoutout to alice in chains and pearl jam. in the future you'll be remembered as we remember hair metal today.

Hey, it's funny that you mention Seattle, because I'm thinking of moving there. The fact that it rains a lot is a plus for me, as I'm usually gloomy and despise the sun! Hahaha! And from what I've heard, it's the smartest city in the United States.

About Cobain and grunge: I think I speak for Florida when I say no one down here talks about Cobain, wears Nirvana shirts or listens to grunge music for that matter.

why do people wear Jim Morisson or The Doors shirts? And Hendrix's?

We're talking about people who changed the industry while they were young, and died too soon, which leaves us wondering what level they could have achieved...

Just like all kinds of fans, music fans want to remember their idols, not for being heroin addicts but for their creations, and their attitude. And Kurt is remembered for that. Like Aerosmith's Tom Hamilton once said: "Sometimes rock 'n' roll needs a good kick in the ass... and that's what Nirvana was".

And no, it will never be remembered the same way hair metal is, because both genres are history at this point, and hair metal is completely ridiculed by music fans nowadays, while grunge isnt. Hair metal didn't exactly leave us any heroes (unless you want to consider guys like Tommy Lee, Nikky Syxx or Dee Snider your inspiration) unlike grunge...

because Hot Topic needed t-shirt icons to sell, and we fell for it.

I have as much respect for aerosmith as I do for creed (but that's for later).

Hey you! I was 15 in '91 and I loved grunge. Seattle had some wicked bands come up around that time and I am not surprised they all still go on about it. I suppose everyone has a big soft spot for the music they listened to as an early teen and for me Nirvana , Pearl Jam ,Soundgarden , Alice in chains and the rest will all be fondly remembered.

funny that I was more into Nirvana and Pearl Jam when I was growing up and now at 23 years of age it's Soundgarden and Alice in Chains that are still among my short list of favourite bands.

And please don't forget Stone Temple Pilots who were quality as well. Very underrated band. Scott Weiland was so much better when he was a cokehead.

anyway Grunge was (Y)

They were quality! (not from seattle tho) still throw on the first and second albums sometimes to rock out :rockman:

Ps I am fairly sure weiland went the same way as layne staley of alice in chains (now six foot under). Correct me if I am wrong.

Nevermind has like 6 or 7 classic songs out of 12 and only one average in my opinion which is On a Plain.

If that's a decent album I look forward to hear what you consider to be a good one.
