Can't install Origin after latest update

Hello to everyone!

Today, I launched Origin to play a match with Fifa 12.
Once I launched Origin, it asked me to download an update: unfortunately, the installation process seemed to hang for hours and I tried to stop it. The trouble is caused by a file windowsInstaller-K8B893803-v2-x86.exe that can't be run.

I tried a lot of solutions: downloading Originsetup from EA site; launching windowsInstaller-K8B893803-v2-x86.exe manually from "temporary files" folders (but it resulted that I've already installed a more updated version of Windows Installer)... what should I do?

I bought the original DVD and I hope I don't have to reformat the machine. I have a Windows XP.
