I haven't played FIFA 2005 since my disc began going bad. I bought Winning Eleven 8, and I must say...it's quite a bit of fun. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot, because it's pretty fun. Of course, it doesn't have the glamour that FIFA has, because it doesn't have all of the licenses. But...everything that FIFA lacks, WE has, and that makes a big difference.
However, there are some things in WE that I don't like, but so far, the good outweighs the bad, by far.

Hey guys...what do you do with bad morale players? I mean the guys with the green or even blue faces? Do they bring the morale of your team down low enough to cause problems?
The problem I have is with ManU I have three players who have green faces...and even when I start them for a game or two...they stay green. One of the players is Liam Miller who is 28 in my career right now and only in the low 70's...so I'm shipping him out during the January window. But the other two I have are the replacement for Keane and the replacement for Neville at right back.
I use the right back about one out of every four games...and he's rated a 73...not bad. The CM is rated about a 70 but he's only played in a couple of domestic cup games and as a substitute during a Champions League game. I play a 4-3-1-2...my CM tucks in behind Kaka who is absolutely deadly in this game. Currently, my young lad is third choice CM behind Kleberson and (drum roll please) the immortal Scott Severin...who is up to an 80 rating!
The thing is...with January coming up...and the domestic cup games overlapping with the league and the champions league...I'm probably going to need those guys, so I will hang on to them. When they do play...the performances haven't been very good...so they have form ratings in the low 5...upper 4 category.
I have had guys with blue faces before. I just played them til they cheered up...but these guys are tough nuts to crack. I don't want to sell these guys...they won't bring many points...and I want to develope them up to be good players. What would you guys do?
I would like to see a realistic loan system in upcoming FIFA games. Ideally, I would ship these young guys out for the first part of the season...and then bring them back for the second half when all the games start piling up.
Just trying to see what you diehard career mode guys think. I'm having a blast playing two careers at once...

like b-ytter said, just keep playing those players in easier matches (vs low table teams and easy cup matches), and if they have a good performance, keep starting them even if there is a more talented player who is fit. i find that when my starting 11 are happy but a lot of the subs and reserves aren't, the team does not work very well together. however, when there are very few players in bad moods, all the players (not just those individuals) seem to improve their game.
but really, you have trouble with Miller? he's my first midfield sub and has been starting the last few games. he scored the game winner in a 3-2 victory over Barcelona in the ECC, and hit the post 2 other times that game.
oooh another good way if you're dealing with a CM, try starting them at their normal position, and then putting them as a forward during the game. i do this often when Rooney has a few goals, so i sub out Rooney for a midfielder (usually Eagles or Solli) and put the CM up front. goals obviously help morale and form.

b-ytter and barthez...thanks for the ideas. I like Barthez's idea of moving midfielders up. I played Eagles up front in an early league cup match...he scored twice and even though he hasn't played in about a month and a half...he still is smilin' away.
By the way Barth...yes, I did move Miller along...got 16,000 and some points from Fulham for him. It allowed me to bring in Solari from Real Madrid to give me cover when Giggs retires...probably at the end of this year. Solari is 31...and probably has a couple of good years left in him. He was a bargain...21,000...something along those lines.
I'm starting in on League and FA cup runs...have an FA cup game on tap...got Eagles, Keane's replacement (McGeady, not Aidan McGeady), Gary Neville's replacement and Djemba-Djemba in the line up...and even found some room for Mitea...so I want to see some bright shining faces in the morning!

Now I see what all of the fuss is about, the game is excellent, and I can't stop playing it. I haven't played FIFA since I got WE8.

great to hear about your progress mutiger, but its sad to hear you sold Miller him and Keane's replacement (Quinn) are my usual starters in my 4 man midfield in EPL games. in other competition i usually put O'Shea in Miller's spot and Fletcher in the Quinn's spot.
also, i'm on season...7 (?) now and still with United.
in pre-season i bought a few players, all for no more than 25000.
a: Jonathan Prutton (Leicester City) - Paul Scholes' replacement (he was gone when i joined United, i didn't realize that he was at Leicester until after the trade deadline of last season, when he was 34 and about to retire). So far he hasn't proven himself to be great yet, and he started at 70 and in November is 72.
b: Samuele Maniero (Blackburn) - Lorenzo Amoruso's replacement. Great young CB, his good form has already earned himself a spot over players like Silvestre and Brown. He is the first CB in line to replace Ferdinand, and actually starts over Rio half the time due to having a form around 8 compared to Rio's 6.5. He recently scored in a home match against his old club Blackburn. He started as a 78, and is now an 81.

What do you make of this?...
Motty and McCoist have started in with their "They won't mind...they're the champions anyway" lines when I play my career with Manchester United.
The problem is...I'm nine points out of first...in fourth place with 11 or 12 games left. I am making a good run...and have come from behind a couple of times lately for wins.
I think there's something shady going on here. Is the fix in? Do we have Bundesliga referees? I should sim out the last games of the season and see what happens. I'll let you know how tings turn out...but before when I play a career and they start saying these lines during the games...I have won the league...but I've usually been ahead in the league at the time, even though there have been enough games left for someone to catch me.
By the way...Kaka rules in this game...now on 25 goals in 34 games in all competitions...plays as a CAM in a 4-3-1-2. Rory McGeady...my Keane replacement has become a solid CM...pushing Kleberson for playing time. My Gary Neville replacement right back is still giving me fits with his bad attitude even though he plays one out of every three games. Even though he's 19...he still may be on the way out and the end of the term. The RB in front of him is 20...and an 83 already (Maldini's replacement from AC Milan). I figure I can pick up a spare part somewhere who won't poison the clubhouse. My other malcontents...Eagles, Fletcher and the like are beginning to brighten up with playing time, as I thought. Fletcher has been starting on the right with C. Ronaldo out with a groin in jury the last month or so.
So...Ruud is 31 now in my career...Smith has been phenomenal coming off the bench behind Van Nistlerooy...9 goals in 16 appearances...is it time to send Ruud packing in the off season and bring in an Adriano...or maybe Michael Owen...or maybe even Ibrahimovic? Or...maybe even a big time midfielder or defender? RVN is still producing big numbers for me...but he'll bring big money for transfers over the summer.

I used Ruud Van Nisto till he was 34. We was scoring leader or league every year. So I think you should still use him! Bring in Henry, hes sick! Now that all those guys retired, I have Adriano and C Ronaldo playing upfront together. C Ronaldo plays really well as a striker. I have Joaquin in his place and Robben on the other side. I signed De Rossi as my CDM and hes become a really good player. Defenders are worth it. I bought Emmanuelle Ferrara and Colocini and they are really sold in defense. Henry retired on me and his replacement is a look alike. And when he has the ball the commentators says HEEENRY! Will he get to be as good as Henry if I play him? He seems to be getting a little better everyday.
