I've been trying to find out which factors really affect player growth in Fifa 2014. There does not seem to be a lot of information in the net, and some of it is actually contradicting.
First of all let's look at the speed of growth.I play Southampton using 'current customized squads'. At Southampton there are some young talents, like Shaw and Ward-Prowse, both with potential above 80. Playing them regularly and getting them good ratings, they just don't grow!
In earlier Fifa versions the speed of growth was influenced by the ratings players got after each match. But this seems no longer the case, or am I wrong? Some people say that there is something random about this. But this does not seem true as in different careers I had the same problem with the same players. Some people say there's a growth speed field in the database. I checked in DBM14, but I could not find anything like this. Now as it seems, a player's potential can change during the game - could it be that those players' potentials have just dropped so that they're already at their peak? This is all pretty confusing.
Now if I have a player who is talented - what do I need to do to make him grow at the highest possible speed?
Potential is another thing. It seems like potential can change when a player is transferred (even if only on loan). But if I have a player in my team right from the beginning, can his potential be any different than what I see when I check his value in CM14?
Maybe we can collect some of our experience/knowledge here, as these questions seem pretty interesting for just about anyone who plays career mode.
