I don't post here very often, but I think I have to write down some thoughts of mine about this issue.

The new CEP patch looks quite good regarding the content, but I have to agree that locking the database is a very unwise decision. (:/)

After all, OckHAM, you don't own any of the copyrights for this stuff yourself, so what would you say if EA or any of the companies or football clubs who own the individual copyrights would come to you with their lawyers? Of course then everyone would blame them - and rightly so - but fortunately this situation isn't the case. But you shouldn't start trying to "protect" your own patches now, as you are dependent on the goodwill of those companies yourself. The CEP is very well-known anyway, so you are getting the credit you deserve, I don't see that in danger. But as has been said, being able to freely edit FIFA is an important aspect of the whole community and with a locked database you are working against this principle. So please take these thoughts into consideration for future versions of the otherwise great CEP patch!

Releasing special editions of some editors at least enables people to edit some aspects, but still this is a huge limitation. Also, locking the FIFA database is a wrong decision in principle.

Regarding the compilation patch which has been discussed on this thread: I haven't downloaded it myself, but from what I read on this thread I would say that it should be okay, if proper credit to the original authors has been given, including links to their websites. As I already said, all FIFA editors are editing copyrighted stuff themselves, so they can't complain if someone else edits their stuff - that would be hypocritical (unless someone else falsely advertises it as his own work of course, without giving credit). People should try to look at things in a positive way: If someone else expands a previous patch or compiles a compilation this will only make more FIFA players happy and should usually increase the popularity of the original authors and their sites at the same time. :)

Anyway, this post is not intended to offend anyone, I just wanted to write down some general thoughts about this topic. Take care, everyone and thanks to all FIFA editors, of CEP and otherwise, for their time and effort! (Y)

Excellent Post !!! and my sincerest thanks to all you editors out there who truly make an average game GREAT!!! :rockman:

But this whole copyright thing is complete foolishness !!! You guys are adding copyrights on top of existing copyrights you don't even own ? :nape:

EA TOOLS END USER LICENSE Electronic Arts Inc,EA owns all of the rights, title and interest in the Tools & Materials. You may not alter any of EA's trademarks or logos, or alter or remove any of EA's trademark or copyright notices included in or with the Tools & Materials or EA's products. yes BobaFett, nicely said indeed!!! this patch could have been the best patch for fifa07 but because of that copyright...thing...it turned in the worst one (no ofense, not being able to edit the database ourselves is the only thing i dislike) , hope that you'll change your mind about this aspect and take a wise decision by unlocking all the features of the database :jap:

A lot of people wants to edit their game, but with CEP they can't. I think that "stealing the database" it's an exaggeration....nobody can steal this BIG patch without being "observed". So, I think the patch isn't in danger to be stolen.

Hope you will think at the FIFA community and the next CEP will not have an encrypted database. THX

Good work OckHAM...

Can you upload those files on rapidshare because on filefront you have to wait for about 3 or 4 hours to download each one of them... If it is possible
Thanks

OckHAM,

It seems to me that there is no very much difference between top teams and poor teams. There is also not very much difference between poor players and top players. In original FIFA07, this problem had been corrected but in in CEP3.0, even with original gameplay reinstalled, players such as Totti, Henry cannot make a single decent pass or finish while players rated 60 score incredible goals. Is there something in zdata to do with player skills or differences that has been transfered from FIFA06 to FIFA07? In my opinion it is ruining the game because it is making it unrealistic. The major flaw of FIFA06 was that it was just as easy to beat Barcelona and Chelsea as it was to beat Rochdale or Rimini, and that ruins the game in my opinion,

cheers

The first version of CEP for Fifa 2007, the CEP 3.0 has been released on Sweetpatch together with the Kits Addon 4.0 to revolutionate completely your fifa game.

Some quick and very important notes that you have to read before downloading and installing: 1) Italian language is not still included in this first release, you will find it during next hours on the site of a friend of the CEP; 2) You will find that is NOT possible to edit the CEP with any of the excellent db editing utilities for Fifa 2007: this is a choice of ours, and you will discover why and how in the faq included in the release; 3) I STRONGLY suggest you to: reinstall a fresh version of Fifa 2007 before installing CEP to have the same stability we encountered during our long betatesting, and to download the Kits Addon 4.0 because all the kits (name, colours etc.) settings are based on the kits present in that addon.

I'm going to update the CEP website pages during the next hours with more informations on present and future releases of the CEP07 (downloads page too needs to be updated), in the meanwhile this is the list of the CEP07 features:

well...

Ockham should create a version unlocked and have it sent out to editors only who wish to add to the CEP, but he could password protect the installation to protect it from stealers who just want to take stuff out and add it in their patches. I can see why Ockham locked it, I would do the same, but at the same time have a version for editors that are well known and not just guys who can't be bothered putting in the effort to make an update from scratch. Guys who want an easy 'well done' in the community won't last long, but I can see why Ockham wanted to protect the CEP and the Sweetpatch exclusivity. It is important to keep this community loyal to one another. Otherwise you get a bunch of cool guys that hate a LOT of assholes. And all assholes wanna do is **** all over everything - Team America :jap:
