We will only truly be able to compare once Neymar is in Europe. Hazard looks strong whereas Neymar looks like he would be shoved off everyball against a half-decent defense.

Neymar also underperforms against strong teams. Hazard loves strong teams. At least at this point, i'd be more confident with Hazard in my team.

Because there are no images from southamerican football.

This kid decided Libertadores title being 19 year old, a title Santos couldn't win since Pele era. Ignorants said exactly the same bullshit about Cristiano and time prove them wrong.

No, Cristiano never had this kind of hype before playing at Man U. This is the "same bullshit" that was said about Robinho.

Our fans are much more subdued with Rafa.

I really wonder what it'll be like when Chelsea visit Liverpool at Anfield later this season. Our fans will most certainly be chanting his name, and part of me thinks, Benitez himself might want Liverpool to win on that night. (H)

Do Liverpool fans sing Benitez's name, still? Would be interesting to see the team's opposition chanting the manager's name and the team's fans chanting this:

I mean the "he doesn't appear in big games" bullshit.

Yup, this is the stupidest argument in sports. Simple truth is that you will never even make it to a high professional level if you can't take big matches. Just to keep advancing with a top club through the youth ranks requires success in big matches from a very early age. Getting promoted to the reserves, even more, and making a debut for the seniors even more.

To be fair though, the argument about Neymar isn't necessarily "he does not perform as good as usual" but rather "he might not be good enough to play at a high level".

An argument I hate even more, and is common more in American sports when the teams draft college players, is "[young player who has never played at the pro level] is better than [established professional]." Maybe Neymar is better than Robinho ever was, but that is not at all certain. He needs to prove it. Robinho was a very good player before that move to City.

I am always overly skeptical of players until they show what they can do on the biggest stage. Its not like Neymar doesn't have any doors open to do it, he just wants to wait and build up some more hype. Which makes me think that he cares about being the big man on campus more than actually being the best player.

And you can't say that Neymar is like C. Ronaldo. Ronaldo didn't chill around Sporting until he was 22-23 and the whole world knew him and every club dreamed of singing him. He took an offer from one of the biggest clubs in the world at 18, where there was little hype, lots of skeptics and little assurance of a starting place. That's an attitude of a player who wants to be the best.

Plus, it must be kind of cool living and playing in a country where you are revered as a god pretty much

If Mourinho is still the manager then I agree. If a random manager who will be fired in 9 months is there (like the Madrid of 3 years ago), then I don't think it would be a smart move.

I think neymar has seen ronaldo, ronaldinho and Adriano etc. And is afraid

In what way do you mean? That all of them had unbelievable potential and phenomenal success before reaching peak age (Ronaldo, Ronaldinho), but then kinda drifted out when they reached that peak age?

I agree with you, he is making crazy money and worshiped almost in the same light as Jesus and it must be one hell of a life to agree to give up. But if being the absolute best in the world is his goal above all, then he has to leave Brazil and show what he can do in Europe. The longer he stays, the harder it will be if already not impossible.

And maybe he doesn't want to be the best in the world and is actually quite happy with where he is at right now. And its just people like us hyping him up to the level that he doesn't want.

Lampard has renewed, which mean you will sign a not "famous" manager, someone like Zola.

why? I've heard Mourinho will leave Real Madrid this summer, so he could be back(?)
