Is Grant really set to sign a new 3 year deal? Because I also read that Manuel Pellegrini's agent said that blues have contacted him! and seeing his contract is almost over I wouldn't mind seeing him as our coach next season.

Doesn't matter at a big club, I think it may be harder getting rid of Grant and we'll really have to perform poorly but I doubt he'll be around for 3 years unless he really is a great manager. But the way I see it right now, he's a decent manager but the squad is what's doing the job.

This is gonna sound stupid as fvk but I just realize that when Didy says he's located in not Trinidad, he means Tobago.

Avram Grant IS set to sign a new contract, and in my opinion that is a very good thing. We need to be a stable club once more. We do not need to be hiring and firing managers every five minutes.

Avram Grant will do a fine job and so far he is proving that. Also, it's not just about Grant. We have ten Cate in there too and that is a massive addition to the coaching staff MASSIVE, and don't forget Stevie either.

I believe with these three in place, we have a more than adequate managerial and coaching side to the club. I would have been happy to have had Ten Cate on his own as manager, so him AND Grant AND Steve are gonna do a mighty fine job together.

I like the guy TBH. He is straight up and does not take any crap from the media either. Coupled with that he has a calm authority that impresses me a lot. Fergie has that too.

Yeah, so I'm happy to see him sign a new deal. I also do not understand why anyone would not be happy with Grant as manager. Just like when Wenger came to England, he is an unknown quantity and that makes the fans understandably nervous. I distinctly remember Arsenal fans moaning like fu<k when Wenger was appointed. They wanted a "big" name to go with their "big" club. Wenger turned out to be a pretty good choice in the end, and Arsenal fans like to forget the early days of his time at Arsenal when they were moaning about employing a nobody as manager.

We need a manager who is happy to stay with Chelsea for as long as he is wanted, and not someone with a big ego who can't wait to piss off to Spain or Italy so they can become even more famous.

Some of the names I've seen talked about as a prospective manager for Chelsea are just a joke. There is not one name out there, NOT ONE, that gets me at all excited.

So for me, a quietly efficient guy like Grant, backed up by the dynamic duo of Henk and Steve, will do me nicely thanks very much.

Look at the change in our game now. Look at the freedom to play that our players now have. We have an abundance of World class players with World class skills, who were previously told to reign in all that talent and play effeciently rather than brilliantly. Talented players should be allowed to show off their talent, otherwise what the fu<k is the point in having them at the club?

Obviously we aint gonna win 6-0 every week, but the football I am seeing from Chelsea at the moment is a joy to watch. THIS is what I like to see. Free flowing football. This, and the players we have, coupled with the education and the ethics installed into those players by Jose, , is IMO a fantastic recipe for success.

I think we'll do fine as we are. No need to mess it all up now. The setup we have has not happened by accident. This has been planned for a long time. Does anyone really believe that Grant got the job by accident? This has been thought through long and hard.

Knowing Roman's determination for Chelsea to succeed, would he honestly take a chance with Grant if he didn't KNOW that Grant will be successful. I really do not think so.

We are in the very fortunate position of supporting a club who can bring just about anyone they want, players or managers alike. There is a very good reason why Grant and nobody else has the job, and it is not (as the media would like you to believe), because he is pals with Roman. Roman would simply NOT trust his club to an idiot, so that leaves me thinking that Grant is gonna surprise a lot of people.

C'MON YOU BLUES.........:)

And how lucky are we?

Ricardo Carvalho has just stated that he is more than happy to see out his contract at Chelsea and would like to finish his career in a Chelsea shirt....

Damn... when I find the article again I will post it.

Great news for the club. Ricardo is a Chelsea Legend in the making.

Im gonna wait till the end of the season until i judge Grant. The real test will be the knockout stages of the C.L and the crucial ties in the prem (these are the games where you really see the true intelligence of a manager). In addition the busy winter period in the prem where alot of points are stake and how he and the staff will motivate and keep the players happy. Dont get confused tho just because I wont judge him until the end of the season doesnt mean Im not backing him, he has my full support. But the 3yr extension, im not sure, to give him an extension after ONE month in charge?? Im gonna be honest, right now Grant hasnt proved himself YET, this decision should be made during the final stages of the season. Thats where you'll get a more accurate picture. I admit tho i am surprised how fast Grant is gettin to win me and many Chelsea fans over. But thinking rationally, Grants assessment should be taken later in the season and not after one month in charge.

Regarding this new style , TBH i dont want Chelsea to become one of those attractive sides that dont win anything, (ahem Arsenal), EVERYONE will have their own opinion, I enjoyed watching Chelsea 6-0 match against Man City the same as I enjoyed watching the 1-0 victories under Mourinho , different aspects , right now the attacking football is attractive, while under Mourinho, i really enjoyed watching the efficiency and solid play, but all in all as long as we get the result Im happy and if that means playing attacking or "efficient" . im fine with either. I just hope we dont become Arsenal where we dont win anything. But Pede you made an interesting point , the efficiency style Mourinho instilled and the new attacking mind by Grant, Ten Cate and Stevie, it makes quite the combo.

i gotta say tho, Im disappointed that SWP isnt getting his chance anymore, the bruv worked hard and finally got the opportunity and was playin sikkk and then the big change and hes back down in the pecking order, i see him going to Man City come January if not then the summer if hes kept on the bench. I feel for the bruv, and I hope he shines and keeps his head up.

Herr Pete, Calciomercato.com the italian rumour website is claiming Chelsea is ready to make a huge deal for Van Der Vart. It is mentioned that they will be spending 20 million pounds to purchase his rights. Wow, i understand he is one of the most talented playmakers in the planet but that sum is way too much for him. In Hamburg they must be rubbing their hands if this is confirmed to be the truth.
Heard anything on it ol' mate?

Olso refering to the same source Carvalho is set to remain with the Blues and therefore is told to forget about moving to Juve.

Deisler mein herr, :)

I did hear about Chelsea's interest in Van Der Vaart, although I have not heard what sort of money will be involved.

20 mill is a lot of dosh of course but, then again Spurs paid 18 million for Darren Bent, which proves that the market is just out of control.

Then again, I think Chelsea probably do not see 20 Million as a huge amount of money, IF the player lives up to his growing reputation. If it turns out that he makes the sort of impact Drogba has made at the club,( Chelsea were accused of paying over the odds for Drogba. Now everyone knows he was worth every penny), then it will be worth it.

I must be honest though. I really have not followed Van Der Vaart recently so I really don't know how he is playing at all.

This interest probably comes because of Henk ten Cate talking about the lad. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to Dutch talent I would think, so yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens.

The Chelsea interest is definately a fact though.

Dip, I think we are all still a little unsure about Avram mate. Of course we (and He), needs more time to settle down. Yeah, so far so good but as you say, lets see how the season goes.

If we were talking about Grant being on his own, then I would probably admit to feeling very nervous still. The fact that his backroom staff are top notch guys, goes a long way with me in feeling comfortable about the rest of the season.

To be realistic though mate, I would be very happily surprised if our season turns out to be one for the record books. I aint too worried about that though because, I think we must all appreciate the upheavel that we have been through this season so far. The players and staff and boardroom are all sounding confident enough for sure, so lets hope that we can pick up the pace and win a trophy or two.

At the same time I would not agree that Grants future should be decided by what happens this season. We are not Newcastle United. (No offence T.A. and the rest of the Toon boys). A club who gives one season to a manager to prove himself before he isreplaced, will always be nowhere.

What if we only gave The Drog one season to prove himself. We would have kicked him out after his first season as a waste of time and money. If a player needs time to settle in, then how long does a manager/coach need? Their job is harder to acclimatise to than a players ever is, but we always give MOST new players more than a season to prove themselves.

As for SWP. He is a squad member like ALL of the Chelsea playing squad. He knows the score. His time will come again. Grant has told each and every player the same thing Jose told them all, They are part of THE squad and as such will be called up when needed, but to continue to work hard so they are ready when called upon.

So far SWP has been very professional about his situation. Which is no different to the situation that a lot of players find themselves in at Chelsea and at every other club that has a strong squad. He will continue to act professionally or he will leave.

TBH mate, this SWP thing is just media bull s.h.it. He is not unhappy as the newspapers would like us to believe. He knows the squad ethic and he really doesn't have a problem accepting that. Of course he will be dissapointed he isn't playing every game, and so are a lot of players. He'll get his head down, work hard and when we need him he will be there.

We are fighting in 4 competitions, averaging 3 matches a week for the rest of the season. That is a long long campaign and it would be impossible or irresponsible to expect to play through all of the season. That is why clubs need a strong squad of loyal dedicated players. SWP IS one of those. Thats why I love 'im so much.....:)

I do believe he is playing tonight as it happens.

It's not a market out of control, it's just that the market for BRITISH players is out of control... British talents and big-name players are always overpriced. On top of that, it's Chelsea making an inquiry for a player... if I was the owner/TD of any club, I'd ask about twice as much for one of my players compared to any other club asking for a price.

No its the price of players from all over that has escalated. How much did Man U pay for Nani and Anderson? How much did Liverscum pay for Torres?

If you are going to be looking at a "known" player with a pedigree of sorts, then his price is gonna be high wherever he is from. At the end of the day, every transfer is a gamble so.

As for inflating the price just because it's chelsea.....Nope it won't work any longer. Ask Sevilla and Danny Alves.

The reason that transfer fees are high in England is simply because the Premier League is at the moment, the richest league in the World. It's not a good by - product of a successful league but there it is.

The list of overpriced British players is too long to list bro.. it just doesn't match.. Darren Bent, Craig Bellamy, Gareth Bale, David Nugent, Carrick, Hargreaves, etc.

Either way the return Chelsea sees on its returns proves my point.. As for giving me on example in which Chelsea didnt give in, doesnt really disprove my point.

Hehe, let's just enquire about players that Man U, Arse, and Liverpool are after just for the hell of it. If the club actually thinks we're serious the players price will go up and whoever does buy him will have to end up paying more. I'm joking but it would be interesting if we did that.

I still think we'd pay large amounts of money for players that are well proven or attacking players, say Kaka, he's not coming to Chelsea but if he was, Roman would pay the big fee. It's just that they won't pay for a player like Alves or the sort of fees payed for Essien or SWP but they'd still pay the sort of fees for players like Schevchenko.

Yeah it was a cracking game. Hat trick from Super Frank who is back to his best, and a cracking goal from Sheva, showing us the Sheva that we thought we brought to Chelsea. Fantastic stuff.

The down point was the goals conceeded. I do not understand WTF Jose ever wanted Ben Hiam for. He really is not very good at all IMO. He cocked things up defensively on to many occasions last night (once again). The guy's time at Chelsea must be limited surely. He made Carlo look like an idiot last night. Bad bad player IMO.

As for grit, determination and a never say die attitude, this certainly puts Arsenals 1-1 draw with Liverpool into perspective doesn't it? After hearing the media gushing laughable praise on Arsenal for clawing back a goal to get a DRAW FFS, I am not surprised that not many outlets managed to find the ability to credit us with the quality we showed last night.

We came from behind to WIN the game. Not draw but WIN. and all you hear is more negativity from some of the media. Still thats their problem to sort out not ours.

For the record, Leicester gave us a better, harder game than Liverpool gave Arsenal too. Even when Leciester were in the lead they just kept coming at us. They didn't sit back and invite us to take pot shots, as Liverpool did for Arsenal.

So if Gallas is stupidly convinced that drawing 1-1 with Liverpool makes every other team scared of Arsenal, then the rest of the league must be s.h.itting themselves over us. Then again, pass back Billy never was that bright.

Gooners....this is meant as an anti media rant, and NOT an anti Arsenal thing. I thought I'd make that quite clear. :)
