That is what I love most about the English game. Dont get me wrong, I hate scummers like Matteo, Dickov, etc, but I would rather the refs just stand aside and let the players play like grown men. A game is terrible to watch when its stopped every 15 seconds for something or other, but this is why I get so annoyed when one of our boys like Joe Cole or Robben takes a big spill and rolls around. Granted, countless others have been doing it long before they came along, but I still think its cheap, no matter what. However, since its become so accepted, I can still excuse it, because if you dont go down with some contact, its as if they arent willing to do everything to help their team win. I dunno, though, its a fine line to walk.
Anyway, its a long time till sunderland comes to the bridge, so lets discuss the next bit of scuttlebutt. Spurs are after Carlton Cole:

Spurs to test Chelsea's resolve
Chelsea's resolve to keep hold of fourth-choice striker Carlton Cole is set to be tested by a £2million bid from Tottenham as Martin Jol seeks more attacking strength.
The departure of Freddie Kanoute means Spurs are left with just one centre-forward - Mido, who is facing a ban after his weekend dismissal against Chelsea - to partner either of their smaller strikers, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs' bid will be enough to persuade Chelsea to sell Cole, with Jose Mourinho having seen the forward, who was on loan last season at Aston Villa, as valuable back-up for Didier Drogba, Hernan Crespo and Eidur Gudjohnsen.
However, Cole has not yet featured in the first-team this season and may prefer a move elsewhere, especially if he can remain in London.
Ironically, Mido's red card has given added urgency to Tottenham's pursuit of the 21-year-old forward, who was originally targeted by the club in the talks which took place over compensation for director of football Frank Arnesen.
Its not really fair to keep Cole when a. He has potential that can be tapped and enhanced elsewhere b. Jose clearly doesnt rate him, and he hasnt even seen the bench this year. Im a bit mixed on this, as its spurs, and Cole has been with Chelsea for a number of years. But all that promise he had under Ranieri seems to have vanished. It speaks volumes when people rated him one of the worst players Villa had, and he couldnt even make a dent in that lineup which wasnt very forward rich. If Pompey tabled a bid, and Chelsea said 'no' then I have to question that decision, because I think he wouldve had ample opportunities there.
Anyway, this could open up new possibilities for bringing in a forward. Id heard something about them sending Keane to Newcastle as a makeweight for Jenas, and Keane is a young guy who would be a good third/fourth choice option, but by the sound of that article, theyd wanna keep him. Jose has made it abundantly clear that he doesnt rate Owen, so I guess that dream is dead, but with all these rumors about Owen, Keane, Kuyt, and now Cisse, I have a feeling that a major reshuffling of the cards will be taking place soon....
Reactions anyone?
