Their skills might be but I very much doubt that their mentality/egos are.

Ranieri was a good coach but his rotation policy and some of his subs cost Chelsea big time. With Mourinho that goes away. I'm thinking Mourinho will have a main starting lineup instead of rotating strikers, mids, and defenders each and every game.

IMO Mourinho is the better man for the job.

Sure, that tinkering lost us a few games, but it won us far more. OK, his last few games werent too good, but if you'd been f*cked with the way he was by the board you wouldnt be at 100%.

Mourinho will make Chelsea a team, and with this squad Chelsea will be the best team in europe. believe me.

Simply players at Chelsea should now understand that they have to play the best to start, and they shouldnt be prepared to join there club unless they understand this. They should stop moaning and concentrate on getting back into the first team, rather than complaining and asking for a transfer. Look at Lampard for example, and how much he played last season. Good peformances result in a starting spot, and rather than crying they should realise that. And luckily for Chelsea they have a manager now that uses this policy.

Kezman, Robben, Ferriera, Tiago, Drogba, Carvalho...Damn what great signings. I'm going to start watching Chelsea games this season. Even though they had good signings last year, I still wasn't interested in watching them play. This year, however, I'm looking forward to Chelsea games.

I can't wait to see all the new signings in action on the 8th...yep, yours truly will be there for Franco's farewell after scrounging a ticket off a mate :Carlos*o:

Virgo posted it in the Ricardo Carvalho thread but I thought his quote and my reply would be suitable here!

OFF THE CHELSEA WEBSITE

The squad of 24 which José Mourinho has in the USA now looks his squad for the season.

Goalkeepers Carlo Cudicini, Petr Cech, Lenny Pidgeley.

Defenders Glen Johnson, Paulo Ferreira, William Gallas, John Terry, Robert Huth, Ricardo Carvalho, Wayne Bridge, Celestine Babayaro.

Midfielders Gérémi, Scott Parker, Tiago, Claude Makelele, Alexeï Smertin, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Damien Duff, Arjen Robben.

Forwards Didier Drogba, Mateja Kezman, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Adrian Mutu.

I think that's a very good team on paper and can challenge a lot of other teams.

It'll be interesting to see Drogba in action, definately. He has a lot to prove.

Big big competition in Midfield, actually makes me chuckle (lol).

Where did ambrosio go? Plus for sure some of the midfielders will not be happy, can you really see Cole, Geremi, Parker, Duff/Robben and Smertin getting in? I rate them all - big time, but I dont see how they can fit. You've got two excellent left midfielders there but I thought duff was fine anyway? Robben wasnt really needed.

What do the Chelsea fans think? You definately have something to be excited about. You have a well structured team.

:)

I have to say, I'm much more confident about Mourinho's signings than I was about Ranieri's last year.

I cant see Geremi getting many games, nor Cole, though he's young enough that he can wait. I hope to see a lot of Parker and Smertin, but I have a feeling they could be a bit left out. Makelele and Lampard are the only two that I would say have a guaranteed place.
