Choppy graphics despites fairly decent PC?

Hello, i've been playing the fifa series for quite some time, but for every single one of them the game play hasn't been very smooth at all (low framerate), no matter what PC or upgrades i have.

This is especially noticeable during passes (as the screen moves rapidly), and makes playing uncomfortable.

I've been playing the fifa06 at

1024x768x32
LOWEST graphics settings
no FSAA/Aniso

Yet the frame is still quite low (i haven't been able to record it, as fraps show constant 85 no matter what, but i can tell just from playing that the fra vastly different from PES4, etc)

My system is a bit old, but you would think that its more than capable of running fifa at lowest quality settings :|?

Specs:
2.6GHZ
512ram
Geforce 6800GT

Anyway, guys, what could be wrong? (or is it just my system after all? i find it hard to believe that the framerate could still suck so much even with setup i have)

How are your other games performing ? If those are running well try to reinstall fifa completely, if those behave slow also it could be the graphic driver that is corrupted, check guru3d.com for the latest nvidia beta driver and install that one then...

hmm, it happens w/ almost every driver, every graphics card, and every version of fifa that i have.

Almost all of them run like a POS no matter how low i turn the settings

I think it must be a coding problem because I've had the same problem since I've played Fifa games on PC, poor frame rate and choppy graphics, yet I can run PES/WE games on maximum settings with crystal clear graphics and excellent fram rate.

This reason alone is why I'm thinking of buying Fifa 06 for my PS2 instead of the PC, but of course I'll miss out on all the patches and maybe a patch to have the White Hart Lane Stadium in the game, so my dilemma is do I have clear graphics and good frame rate for PS2, or put up with the poor graphics and frame rate on PC, but have all the wonderful patches?...hmmm.

Yeah, this is an ongoing problem.

I think the problem you are referring to is a kind of flickering and doubling of images when the ball is kicked at speed up the field. I know, its crazy!

I raised this issue with EA devs last year. In all the fifa games up until FIFA 2005, you could add RENDER EVERY AI FRAME = 1 to the cfg_h ini file and you would get a crystal clear image. Just like PES. Im sure if you search the forums for RENDER EVERY you will turn up the articles.

But they changed something last year and the line no longer works in 2005, UEFA CL 2005 or FIFA 2006.

So far I know it cannot be fixed by new drivers, v-sync, changing the refresh rate or adding the line to the CFG. Believe me I have tried!

It may be possible to add it to config.dat in some way. If only I could open the version in 2006 to amend the files. Ideas anyone?

It really is time for a new game engine. Quite honestly all this processing power and they reduce us to a PS2....

well trouble is they design the game for consoles (which are more profitable)....

all our new gfx cards get to twiddle their thumbs and glare angrily at the oldass console chips

Had some of the same problems like the topicstarter. I could only play the DVD-version of Fifa 06 with good frame rates at 800x600, despite having a good pc with a quality graphic card.
Then I tried the "demo-resolution-shotcut-trick" for the DVD-version...somehow I can now play the game at 1024x768 - without any problems at all!

Might somthing you wanna try out....
