[CL - First Leg] FC Bayern vs Arsenal - [P]+[R]

Post-match Reaction

Felix Magath: "I'd be totally delighted if only we'd taken our chances and not conceded a goal right at the end. You can't just play well in the Champions League, you have to turn in a perfect display. But we're very satisfied. It was a great performance, but you need to be good against such high-class opponents. We did a lot of good things but unfortunately not in the last ten minutes. That was a really stupid goal to let in and it's thrown the whole thing wide open. Arsenal are one of the best teams around and they'll score three or four goals on their day, so the late goal hurts."

Uli Hoeneß: "It'll be a tense night in London now after their late goal, but 3-1 is still not a bad result at all."

Franz Beckenbauer: "The team played well, especially in the second half. We looked technically adept and let the ball do the work. We avoided being pushed back too deep and deserved to be 3-0 up. They were excellently worked goals. Their goal at the end is a shame as it's wide open again now. Arsenal are one of the best teams in Europe and they're especially powerful at home, so we'll need to watch our backs in London. But if you'd have offered me 3-1 before the game I'd have taken it."

Hasan Salihamidzic: "We had a few problems in the first half but in the second half, especially at the start, we had it under control. Obviously we're upset about their goal. We were looking to keep a clean sheet today. I reckon we'll have to go to their place and score, although obviously we're in a strong position."

Roy Makaay: "It's a real shame we let in the late goal. We started very well and got the early goal we were hoping for, but we ran into trouble after that. Then we started the second half in great shape and scored two more, but we've made an error at the end and let in a goal. Whatever, we have an advantage to defend and I reckon we can go there and get a goal. For now we're angry about their goal, but I think it'll look a bit different in the morning."

Claudio Pizarro: "We played well. We applied pressure from the start and scored an early goal. Normally we should be keeping a clean sheet, but we'll have to go to their place and show some respect. I'm back on form and I'll be looking to hit the target in London."

Torsten Frings: "We played very well, but we were all over the place when they made it 3-1. The ball bobbled slightly when I had the big chance, that kind of thing happens. We're still in a good position. You never like conceding goals, but it's not easy scoring twice against us. We can be happy enough. We can match anyone on our day and we needn't fear anyone."

Jens Lehmann: "We're very disappointed. We came nowhere near what we're capable of. You have to think Bayern are nearly there. There's not a lot you can say after losing 3-1. Bayern are very tough to break down when they fall back and defend with everything they've got. 3-1 is a good result for them. We've let in three silly goals, which doesn't happen to us very often. Kahn and I maintain a good relationship. We've both been around for a few years now. We're rivals to keep goal for Germany, but that's how it goes and it's no problem."

Arsenal has the potential to turn things around, but in all honesty, i dont think Bayern will allow that at Highbury. If the English team performed as well as they did on last season at EPL, they might have a shot.

Henry will need to show up massively though.
