Club Football-the best of all?

I can't believe what I read in gamespot.com!!!They play Club football(from codemasters)and they were so excited about what they had seen in their screens!!They said that the graphics were perfect(player models, stadiums etc)but the best was the gameplay. In gamespot they are all Winning Eleven(PES)fans but they admit that Club football has the same and better gameplay than PES!!
Their only difference is the free kicks. In club football you have the ball in a picture and target the spot you want to hit the ball so as to take the right curves.I think that Club football will be very good!!!!

I have heard about it before

From the screenshots I've just seen it looks like it was made using FIFA :S

No,Club football is not for PC unfortunately.Only for XBOX and PS2.
Vegeta when I first saw these screenshots I thought FIFA because the players, the kits were brilliant.
But the similarities stops here. The gameplay is the best of all.Imagine that each player will have his own moves and abilities, not only for the free kicks but also in the game.Every player from the 17 have motion captured their face and their special moves!!!For example David Beckham in the game will look and play same as the real David Beckham. And he will take free kicks as he does in real life. The same for Carlos,Henry,Zidane,Riise and every player in the game.Hard to believe but that's the main reason I believe that this will be the best soccer of all.

I wouldn't put money on it being better than WE7. If it is......I don't know....whoever the makers are are geniuses.

In theory this game should be awesome for the simple fact that there are 17 different versions of this game (each of the 17 teams have their own game) so the designers were able to focus on a small amount of players at a time which, in theory, is good news because that would mean that they really went out of their way to create an identical feel for every team. The graphics certainly look good but I doubt that it will beat PES or WE in terms of gameplay. We'll see come October:)

Yes guys,I know that the most difficult thing in the world for a company is to make their soccer game better than PES,which is the best until now.But we will see in Octomber;) .
But the fact that gamespot.com admits that it has same gameplay as PES is very good, because gamespot hasn't previewed like that before for a soccer game!!

The article from gamespot.com

Earlier today we paid a visit to the invitation-only area of Codemasters' E3 booth to check out Club Football on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game, as we've reported previously, is unusual in that 17 different club-themed versions will be available for each platform when the game ships in Europe this October. For the purposes of E3, Codemasters is showing Manchester United Club Football on the PS2 and Arsenal Club Football on the Xbox.

The first thing that struck us about both versions of the game is that, considering the fact that there's still five months of development time left, the game looks surprisingly polished. All the players from the teams that have been licensed for their own official versions of the game looked as realistic as those in a FIFA game, and the game's stadiums and presentation were also nearing the quality you'd usually expect of an EA Sports game. The similarities with FIFA pretty much end there, though, and Codemasters isn't embarrassed to admit that as far as gameplay is concerned, it's doing its best to emulate the formula of Konami's sublime Winning Eleven 6 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2 in Europe).

As fans of the Winning Eleven series, we were able to pick up and play Club Football without any instruction from the Codemasters representative we were going up against. Even Konami's system for automatically having defenders chase after the ball with a single button press was in place, and actually the only area of the gameplay in which the development team has gone with an entirely different system from that used by Konami is in the taking of free kicks. In Club Football, you'll basically get to choose a point at which you want to strike the ball, rather than using any arrows or such devices, and although it's sure to take some getting used to, the system appeared to work pretty well.

Club Football's biggest unique selling point is that if you're a fan of, for example, Manchester United, you'll be able to create a version of yourself in the game's editor and step out onto the pitch at Old Trafford alongside highly realistic models of your favorite players. When creating our character, we were amused to see that it's possible to create a player who'll look wholly out of place next to the athletic real-life players, so even if you have a belly that overhangs your shorts, there's a good chance you'll be able to create a player who actually resembles you physically.

If you're playing the Manchester United version of the game, you can also look forward to reading about the club's history, checking out player profiles, and unlocking movies showing some of the club's most significant goals in history. So, if you're a fan of one of the 17 club teams that will have its own version of Club Football, there are plenty of reasons why you might consider buying it--even as an alternative to a Winning Eleven game. If you're not a supporter of one of the 17 clubs, however, the same features that appeal to fans of the clubs will most likely put you off buying the game completely.

Club Football is currently scheduled for release in Europe in October, and although no North American release has been confirmed at this time, we're assured that trans-Atlantic crossings for at least the most popular club editions of the game are still under consideration. For more information on Club Football check out our previous coverage of the game.

So far, they have the same controls, and are "doing [their] best" to emulate WE. So, at best, it could have the same gameplay? Shouldn't they be aiming higher?

Yah, I guess we'll see come October. I won't be holding out on buy WE7 to try it though.

LaBrujita I think that it is very difficult to make gameplay better than PES(for every soccer game),but you don't know;) .I will buy too WE7 to try it but I don't expect to see many differences from WE6FE.The worst thing in WE games is that they don't have the rights to make kits, flags etc like the real, and the patches are not so good(not all). The best soccer game is this that mixes gameplay, graphics and rights(PES+FIFA=CLUB FOOTBALL).Do you agree?

Yes and no.
As long as there are a selection of teams (WE has plenty), real players (real names, patched, or whatever, it's all the same), and half-decent graphics (really not an issue for me), then from there it all comes down to gameplay for me. If there's a game with better gameplay, especially with something like soccer, then I want that game over the flashier one--no doubt about it.
I don't know why everyone is bashing WE's improvement from year to year. We all know the the "FE" versions are just slight updates (or final evolutions) of the numbered version. Every full-year apart release has been that much better in every way. Everyone was bitching that 6FE was worse that 6, but that seemed to change once they played the game a lot. WE7 will be better than 4, 5, 6, and 6FE, and better than Club Football and FIFA (haha). Club Football could be better actually, but, like I said, I won't hold my breath for it. It has a lot of potential, and it's good to see something that has the licenses that could continue the beginning of the end for EA/FIFA.

LaBrujita I think that konami can do better things than this. When I saw WE6FE I thought that konami release this game to make more money. We will see WE7,which I think that it will be very good. But my point is that I bore to see every year the same gameplay(almost)with slight differences .So I want sth new but good. And I believe that Club Football will be very good because Codemasters hasn't released another soccer game,so we will see new gameplay.

FE's are released mid-year for those final tweaks and bugs that were discovered from the mass-production/mass-play. Yes, it does make money, no denying that, but do we not want them to use every trick they have to make money for those licenses? (when they become available).

The gameplay always improves quite significantly from full-year to full-year, but it does not seem THAT different because there is only so much to work with; as you may know/have heard, people regularly claim that the gameplay is "perfect" -- you don't want to fix something that's not broken. EA can revise its entire gameplay system every year, why? Because it's so bad every time, and there's nowhere to start from. WE has only bits here and bits there to improve, so it will seem like just little things, but if you are an avid player of the series, the differences seem that much more significant.

As the Codemasters bloke who talks with the websites and forums about Club Football it's good to see you talking about it. It will be a great game!

Yes, we have taken idea that the FIFA graphics mixed with the gameplay of WE/PES is the best thing going forward (imagine if we'd gone for graphics of WE/PES and the gameplay of FIFA!), and, perhaps correctly, some would say that we should forge our own identity rather than trying to take the best parts of the others.

But it's very difficult to do that when we all know that there's only two football games out there at the moment that count. We, by launching another, want to get some of their sales so we have to attract their fans by one of four methods, whether be by gameplay, graphics, the fact that we have the official licences or they just want to change and they trust the Codemasters name.

In the future, with sequels/updated versions, we'll try and move away from both and forge a specific identity - but we're not too far away from that now. It's just easier to talk about a new game that only a few have played in terms of PES/WE and FIFA - terms that the fans understand.

I've played Club Football quite a few times now and it really does look and play fantastically well - so if you've got any questions then post 'em up or email me at [email protected] - Ill try and help.

That seems like a practical assumption. Well done.
He's not going to give you a free copy, or a job, if you keep bending over in his company's favour.

BTW. WE graphics and animations are better than FIFA's, with the exclusion of the faces.

Wouldn't disagree with you on that - the animations in WE/PES are great. I just think the overall graphical style of FIFA is a lot better than WE/PES.

And no one's getting a free copy. Not even me from the looks of it.

:)
