Regarding this issue, I really hope they can achieve some sort of middle ground somehow.
I like the approach by the German FA. The German FA is operating with a budget of €8M a year and dishes out €45 000 to the clubs for each call up. Bremen for instance who have 5 German nt players received €450k for two International games last week.

I doubt the Brazilian FA is that poor. They've been selling tv rights left and right. They should also generate a lot of marketing revenue.

this the question like "who do you like most, your father or your mother?"
My answer is, i like both of them.

erm tough one but i have to say club.

if a player gets injured fifa uefa or the fa should pay hes wages untill he is fit again.

maxi is arguably atletico madrid's most important player, and he is now out for 6 months playing a meaningless freindly for argentina against spain.

It's interesting reading some posts here.

English ppl have always been interesting because as a friend told me once: (paraphrase) "We <English> hate the other League teams so much that when we watch the national team it's as if we're seeing just 1 big selection of players we hate <ESPECIALLY if none of our club players are called>)

- makes sense.

But besides 1-2 surprising answers here (from 2 brazilians), its interesting to note how the ppl who say: "CLUBS!!!" come from a nation where they're national team is..............(to say it nicely) : "Modest" (currently, in reputation and history)

there are always exceptions though (must have been the first dutch guy I heard say "club" over nation in my life <and I've met thousands in Germany a few months ago>)

I wouldn't say it's surprising, considering that one of the brazilians is me, and the other one is from Rio Grande do Sul state (they've tried to become independent from Brazil once - even had a "war" - and it's common to hear them say joking, I hope, that the best Brazilian state is Santa Catarina, because it separates them from the rest of Brazil. Not sure on Colorado's stance on this though)

Nice to see you around pasion!

Club. I got criticised when I said this before, but hating my team (man utd) and it's players seems to be a national sport. Even now you hear England fans chanting "Stand up if you hate manyoo" So that makes me even less bothered about England's national team. Plus I find it hypocrytical to hate Terry,Lampard etc for most of the season and then support them for the odd games. I also believe that club football has overtaken international games as the top stage (World Cup excluded). There are only so many friendlies/qualifiers you can take.

My solution would be:

Regional tournaments to be decided in rounds (straight knockout) to the final qualifying stage (64 or so) then a scaled down qualification proccess to get to the final 16. This avoids the England V Macedonia / Andorra type matches we're so tired of seeing as the minnows according to ranking will enter first (like the FA Cup operates)

World Cup remains as it is.

On the "insurance dabate" :

I think the national association should pay fixed wages to a player on international duty - the club shouldn't pay for internationals wages. Also in the event of injury on duty, the National association continues to pay the fixed rate of wages until the player returns to his club. Then the club resumes paying the players' wages.

nation of course . it still is an honour to represent his nation a be selected as one of the best players for this nation .
I can understand the club's feeling when a player come back from an international game injuried but it's a part of the risk they bet on .
a club give contract for a player and can be obliged to pay this player for nothing time if for example he has a car accident . but if they don't take the risk and don't want to be obliged to pay in any case they can't have big money from transfert as the player would be completely free and that's what make difference between amateur or proffessionnal .
the clubs make a lot of money in exanche of the risk .
a national team isn't giving a player a contract or something , it gives him pride .
I'm sure any player before ever playing for a club have dreamed to wear his national team's shirt . the national team touches every one and make so many people want to play football that the clubs should be thankfull toward the NT .
it the clubs think there is too much NT games then maybe the league's number of team should be reduced instead of NT's games 'cause there is far more club's games than NT's game .
supressing NT's friendlies is a stupid thing to propose . without friendlies how can a NT make a team ? during official games ? they need to have the team already made and a good teamplay when they start an official game .
the case here is Charleroi's Oulmers and recently oulmers is getting back his fitness and declared his will to earn a selection for the national team .
Oulmers was really unlucky . He was a sub and entered the game against burkina faso on the second half then 6 minutes after that he scored a nice goal and received a bad late tacke that obliged him to be taken to the hospital . 6 minutes one goal and a bad injury :(
