Youth Team
This issue is so bad, I have decided to make it public and ask for assistance. I had already played about 4 seasons into the game before the .2 patch came out. Did not want to lose my progress with my favorite team, so i decided to stick it out. However, one problem has persisted for as long as I've had the game. We all know about the strikers not finishing, the offsides problems, the injuries piling up, chairmen being retarded, etc... BUT! This one problem has me screaming.
Defenders.
My CBs are constantly beaten by the 1-2 combo. No matter how much of a beat they have on the ball, the opposing player will get to it first, and will wait for his teammate while my defender does nothing. Then, when the opposing teammate gets there, they will play the 1-2 pass, and they will have a 1v1 against my keeper. Not only that, but my defenders will constantly take the most asinine paths to dead balls, that 60-70 % of the time they will get beaten. Against my leauge teams, I can do okay, but in a European competition, I absolutely get murdered. No amount of training has improved this, and I have trolled and asked for help, gotten everything possible to try and rectify this. Being a team that pretty much nobody wants to join, I have to troll 3rd world countries for talent, which makes this arduous enough already. But even when I got 2 very very good CBs, whose stats are good enough to warrant a place on some very good clubs, they make the same mistakes that my CBs from my youth club make.
I have tried setting them to Ultra Defensive, with no dribbling, no running forward, with closing down only when the opposition is close, and still no effect. It is almost like there is absolutely no common sense. None. I must ask - does anybody have this problem with the new patch...? I feel very bad scrapping this game, I am now in my 9th season, this is a club for which I actually played youth football for, and I have developed some players, and would not want my progress to be for naught. However, I am so infuriated by now that I would seriously start over, if this idiotic problem is gone. I've played every version of FM (or CM) whatever you wish to call it, since 01/02. Never have I seen such a humongous problem. Sorry for the rant.
