Ok, so here's my take on the concerts I've been to this summer:
---
SuperBock SuperRock Festival:
Mastodon: Awesome. Pure metal supreme. Great show, the drummer is ****in umbelievable, and "Blood And Thunder" live can actually kill you.
Joe Satriani: Pretty entertaining, the man's brilliant and the show itself is much more fun than I imagined.
Metallica: Ok, so here's the deal. I allways liked Metallica. Never quite my favourite band, but I allways had great expectations of seeing them in concert. It kinda failed, man! I mean, sure it was huge, the setlist quite good (most recent song was Memory Remains), and all, but the fire in the band is nearly gone.
James - the guy is a machine, best rythim guitar in metal (sorry Mr. Ian), and his vocals are not as bad as some say
Trujillo - Bass beast, brilliant, of the 4 by far the one with more feeling onstage
Kirk - Messed up a few solos, messed up big time "One"s intro, his guitar got off tone several times
Lars - Wastes all his energy in the first songs. How can a guy with 20 years in a legendary metal band, mess up the tempo during the Master of Puppets chorus?

Sudoeste 07
(nearly didn't watch any concert outside the portuguese bands stage)
James: Pretty cool concert, Booth can still sing, all the classics, crowd was great.
Babylon Circus: I hadn't heard of them before the concert and it was kickass, speedy ska with a whole circus vibe to it, about 10 guys onstage, pretty fun.
---
Paredes de Coura
Babyshambles: Watched a total of 3 minutes, boring as hell.
New York Dolls: Simply awesome! I never thought these guys could still move the way they do! The crowd didn't know the songs, not even the classics like Looking for a Kiss, or Trash, and everyone danced, moved, there was even a small circle pit. Pure rock n roll.
Sonic Youth: Expected a little bit more noise and experimentalism, it was a pretty standard concert, but quite nice. The whole fan legion was there and they made the concert quite a interesting experience.
and last but not least, the greatest show you can watch this summer:
GOGOL BORDELLO
I really can't describe how ****in out of this world this is. These guys can save the world. They can stop hunger in Africa, man. What a ****in show. If your familiar with the albums "Gipsy Punks" and the new "Super Taranta", this will be the show you'll tell your grandkids, and make fun of them for not being born at the time...
