The owner of Hearts also owns FC Kaunas. And since the tax contribution is lower in Lithuania than in Scotland, the players sign for Kaunas and get payed by Kaunas, through the owner, but play for Hearts. Actually, they'll never play for FC Kaunas, since the local FA doesn't approve more than a couple of foreigners per team.

Bruno Aguiar, José Gonçalves and Edgaras Jankauskas have all been signed under these circunstances.
