The transfer was from a club in London to a club in Manchester. I don't see why US dollars are relevant

because in the us we use dollars so when they report they use our currency, which is where the confusion started.

US ESPN reports transfers in USD. Most British sites report transfers in GBP. Generally in the soccer world we use Euros as a standard that everyone can understand.

exactly ... typically it's only pound sterling amounts that matter for local British transfers, only Euro amounts for continental transfers, and a mix for players crossing the English channel ...

anyway, the main point is we understand the amount that Man U paid, which was colossal given the circumstances ... they are obviously desperate to make a transfer impact, and Chelsea took advantage ... Mata is a good player, but it's always the context that matters ... £37M for a discard? great sales job by Chelsea ...

I'm happy because he's a young player who Mou blieves fits his team and I respect Mou's judgement. We'll probably make a profit if he doesn't cut it, anyway. There are some issues (the controversy, the not-that-low price, the inevitable association with KDB and Mata, the fact that we also had Piazon and Moses (even Kakuta) who would yhave been cheaper alternatives) but all in all, it'll probably work out.

This transfer window has just been difficult from an emotional standpoint considering Essien was one of (if not the) favorite player of mine for years, Mata was the start of the last two years, and KDB was my favorite starlet. I think we could have gotten more money out of them or made more use of them in the squad, but that has nothing to do with Salah. Although I do believe it is an absolute waste to pretty much swap KDB for Salah when I think KDB is much more talented and definitely had it in him to develop into a good player for us.

The best thing about this az is mou is putting his money where his mouth is. He is definitely going to stay for a while

Starting XI
At least they balanced their books a little bit. Which should be good for financial fair play rules. 45m for Mata and 20m for De Bruyne (both sums in euros).
