I like David Luiz a lot -- a little for his quality on the pitch, but mostly coz he's hilarious ...

for PSG, it's a stupid bit of business spending that much on him ... it'd be even stupider if they bought him purely as a defender, and not as a ball-playing utility man in the defensive half of the field ...

Thiago Motta, Matuidi and Cabaye will occupy the midfield. Adding Luiz into that midfield would force a formation change that won't benefit Cavani, Verrati (if they are getting rid of him), Lucas Moura, Pastore (see Verrati), or (in certain matches) Zlatan.

He is hilarious. I hate this, now I'm gonna have to like PSG. At least if they win the CL now it'll be with him.

I really don't get PSG's logic though. They have the best CB, one of the best up-and-comers, signed just last season for millions, they have Alex who's competent and they sold Sakho in the summer. Now they add DL (and in midfield they have enough bodies as it is, too). While I think he could improve the side no matter where they slot him, paying that much for a non-French player given their punishment is ridiculous.

It shows how little PSG care about FFP and it's a huge middle finger to the process. I hope UEFA decide to fuck them over.

are you saying Cabaye because you think Verratti is going? coz Marco just won Best Young Player of the league ...

and what I'm getting at, RE: David Luiz in midfield, is squad flexibility, not just ideal best XI ... with only 21 List A players allowed in the Champions League, it'll be important to have players who can play multiple positions ...

Marquinhos has played RB at times, and would get a still get lot of opportunities at CB for a 20 year old ... unless they recoup fees and wages from Barça for him, I don't see why they'd sell him ...

Alex is 90% leaving on a Bosman to Milan or Galatasaray ...
