wow, no matter what happens on pens, Nene Muslera MoM ...

Luisito looked exhausted quite early in extra time ... shame, coz there were a couple of moments when a short signature dribble against Argentina's tired centre-backs (who were both on a yellow each) may well have yielded the winner ...

How bout his acting to get Mascherano sent off???

We'll Tevez missed the penalty, I guess it's Messi's fault they lost...

Well I guess that serves Batista right...
don't know if he could have done anything more in this match ... his forwards came up against an inspired keeper, and his ace of spades couldn't conjure up magic that would render the opposition mere spectators ...

haha ... well, the Copa ended up similar to the World Cup: Leo was at the heart of most every attack, got assists, but didn't score when they needed him to most, and his team got knocked out in the quarters ...

as always, I'm against it, and Luis is notorious for going down theatrically:

Luis Suárez is a perfect counterexample to the technical players who've flopped in England ... he's never been a physical player, and the way he used to dive when in physical contests in Holland made a lot of people doubt his ability to handle the Prem ... but he's already set the league alight in 6 months -- saving his best for Man U, no less ...
from the camera angle we got on telly, it was obvious it was a foul, but maybe not deserving a yellow ... but from the reverse angle, which is where the ref saw the incident from, it definitely looks worthy of a yellow, which is what Mascherano got ...

LOL name me the last time an Argentine player played a pass for Messi in position to score. What is Messi supposed to do, pass the ball to himself and score a goal??? Also you clearly don't watch the games, Argentina has been knocked out twice because of their inability to defend properly, Germany put 4 past them, and the defence was abismal today at times when Uruguay had a free kick. Let me guess Messi is to blame for that too.

Batista should have left Aguero and Di Maria who were doing much more than Tevez and Pastore. Also Madrid needs to play Gago, he's had a good copa since he came on.

BTW, I'm root for Chile now, GOOO ALEXIS!!!

Argentina didn't take advantage when they were one man up for so long. Tevez's penalty was horrible, all of Uruguay's were well taken.

WTF was doing Messi as RMF.

You should be happy overall, he comes back sooner and without injury.

As soon as he got the first yellow, I knew the second one is coming. Uruguay played very iteligent.

At least that missed penalty made Manchester and Mancini so happy.
Messi played OK but everyone should understand that comparing Argentina and Barca is wrong. Barca have 10 warriors behind Messi (+ couple on the bench). While, Argentina doesn't have same amount of cohision and teamwork.

relax, I was merely pointing out an angle the press could use to justify criticizing Messi ...

Make America Great Again
One of my favorite parts of these more obscure South American teams is how you'll see guys you haven't seen in years. Hedo Nelson Valdez?! I figured he died after leaving Bremen like 5 years ago.

EDIT: Oh he went to Dortmund for like 4 years. The fact that I didn't know that just shows how amazing Dortmund's season was. Obscurity to champions.

almost same story as Argentina vs Uruguay.

Superman keeper, red cards, defending with 10 players ...

Let's see what will happen in the penalties.
