Copa America is fun to watch. I think MEXICO has a very good chance of winning the CUP this year. I got money on it:rockman:

The best way to increase the popularity of the Copa America would be to:

A) Increase the number of participants to 16. This would end the "Best Third's Qualify". Teams don't take the Cup seriously because they know that even if they win only one game in the group stage, they have a good chance of qualifying.

Personally, I'd make it the 10 teams from CONMEBOL + the 6 teams that reach the final round in CONCACAF WC Qualifying.

B) Have the tournament every 4 years. The Copa America happens way too often to be taken seriously, and now that the Cup is played half way through Qualifiers, teams will be even more inclined than before to send in a B team.

i actually think that the winners will either be Paraguay, Uruguay or Argentina.
if they send real teams (even their "B" teams are great), they should be a threat.

IMO the Copa should take up Euro's style, with every 4 years and increase the teams to all of "America." Though IMO the Copa will never be considered important again if the date isn't changed and other things re-worked.

yeah i agree wit Ruben it would be more attractive with more CONCACAF teams and every 4 year or 3 to give more importance to the event

the Copa America has always been an inconsistant tournament sadly, mainly because it is disputed every two years (with some exceptions) and now in modern soccer there are so many tight schedules and all that. I think the last good copa america was Paraguay 99 (although we got eliminated early :f***: ) , we saw some good matches and classic rivalries like Argentina-Uruguay and Argentina-Brazil and we saw funny stuff like Palermo missing 3 penalties in one game :funny:

I hope most of the teams take this next CA seriously and bring good teams :)

Brazil-Argentina: June of 2004
Argentina-Brazil: June of 2005
(btw I don't know who is going to play at home first even though I put Brazil in front for 2004)
It Brazil vs Argentina first, then Argentina vs Brazil, the order of the games is the same as the last qualifiers, which means Brazil will make the first clash at home.
