corners and free kicks

How do I score in corners and defend against opponetnts corners? Pushing always result in my player losing out. Any secret buttons to control them?

The comp free kicks are just too good too. They scored 100% from free kicks are long ranges and > 50% at close range, so how to defend?

Lastly, I hope EA reverts back to Fifa99 style of corners and free kicks, much more free form. At least they should allow us to decide whether to shoot or pass.

i not sure this works or not. during corner, don't touch anything. let the computer do the rest. basically they won't hit on target but sometimes they well score some fluky sh*t goal. just let it. i knew it works on semi pro and pro level. world class not sure. so far i just play 2 world class games.

IMO the corners in FIfa2005, along with the rest of the gameplay are a joke. I haven't been able to score a goal from the corner just once. It gets on my nerves because I'm getting a lot of corners. Every single time their goalie catches it, and it doesn't matter what type of corner I use.

Why they ever changed that old system, where you could drop the ball anywhere you liked I seriously don't get.

correct. set pieces system are idiot. heres a little tips how to avoid keeper catch the ball and possible to score

if you are using 4-4-2
1. choose crossing to near post
2. choose number 3 player
3. don't touch anything until the clock reach 20 minutes.
4. move in and shot

I score from corners sometimes, i must admit the corners systems look pathetic at first times but when you get used to them you start to enjoy them... after a lot of games now i think that corner kick system are not so bad, i can say i like it, just miss the option to make a short corner...

That just proves the whole scripted, ****e gameplay point, you can score from a corner if you use this "mathematical formula".

Basically I'm quite disappointed with the game. It looks great, no doubt about it. But it just doesn't feel right. For instance, the gaps between the midfield and attack is just pathetic, you've got to hold the ball up for ages if you want Scholes or Keane to come in and support you. And the AI of your players sucks as well. How often have I felt the need to scream at my players: "Stay with your man! Mark him!" Espescially when your opponents attack via the wings. The gaps the LB and RB drop are so unrealistic.

Fifa 05 is indeed a better game than fifa 04. Plays much more freely and allows for more control. However, the scripted plays are just nonsensical. I do score some free kicks though and at least they allow you to cross instead of only allowing you to shoot in more instances. Good game in all, just hope they fix the stupid flaws. Then it will truly be better than PES. And the through pass is the best I have seen, works as in real life.

as i said thousand of times. the set pieces system are too crap and the game more like position performance which i mean defender is always defender, never push up always sit deep. midfield is midfielder, only stay at midfield, unless you ask them to move forward. striker is striker. 95% goals are come from them which is freakin unrealistic

Its funny, if people aren't good enough to do something in FIFA they slam it all the way to hell, yet the same situation about PES they go on and on about the 'depth' of play and how it requires skills which require hours and hours of practice :P

I score a lot from corners (on pro and wc)... The people who can't score from corners must have never played football, listen, if u start advancing too early the goal keeper realizes whats happening and catches the ball...u have to wait till the last minute... if the goalie isn't sure whats about to happen, he won't charge to catch the ball (as it happens in real life, cuz u risk being done in by some other player getting to the ball first and leaving an open goal if you're not sure which player you have to cover)...
either way, whenever i leave it till late i get a good shot on target, both of headers and volleys... in fact the end result is so NOT scripted that a couple of times the goalie charged to catch the ball, but i was quicker to the ball and headed the ball in practically out of his grasp... whcih shows its not a black and white situation... but the goalie makes some judgement errors too... also a lot of goals i've scored have come from rebounds of corners... and have also scored goals when the guy i was aiming for (and the guy covering him) missed the ball and another player headed it in... so choosing player X on a corner doesn't mean that you will score with just that player....

If you guyz would stop whining and just start playing, a lot of your bones of contention would go away

I would love to see you making this against me online... you guys love to say that is scripted and say that there's a way to always score...

The feeling you get when you do a near post corner, during the tussle you move late but at the last second breaks free from your marker, and you bang the ball in the net.....

Doesn't happen often and its very, very hard to do it again, basically I mistimed the whole thing but at the last second reached the ball just in time so it looks like a really powerful header.

i not say thats 100% score. this just my way to score. i played 3 years in career mode, i used this for every corner, i got my head or shot every times except i was wrong timing. thats mean not scripted?

Actually, can someone tell me the buttons I can use in corners and free kicks? I'm using a PC. I also need gelp on jostling cos I seem to lose every time.

i don't find corners hard to score on at all. Like it's been said above... don't make your move too early. It's all about timing.

I still like the WE way of doing free kicks and corners better though. i don't like how i only have 3 guys to chose in Fifa. I'd rather just control the guy taking the corner.
Why you can't do short corners in Fifa is beyond me. It just makes no sense whatsoever.

When I defend against a computer running towards goal I usually start by moving a bit to the left. Then I know that his player will run to the right side of me and I have an easier time blocking him.
Pyoul gave me this idea the last time I watched Barcelona on the TV It works so far.

BTW, a computer standing still is much harder. I don't know what to do

either that, or the Fifa makers realized that short corners...NEVER ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING!!!! seriously, whats the ratio to goals scored on crossing type corners to short corners. short corners almost always result in the ball going back to the defense, or midfield. i mean, posession ball is great, but geez...why not cross the ball in and go for the goal.
