Haha OK. Best argument I have ever heard of in favour of the right to bear arms comes from the great P.J. O'Rourke...
"Right now we live in a time of relatively benine government, but who's to say that will remain the case. In the 1930s, if everyone in Germany had had a gun under their pillow, would the holocaust have happened?"
I'm still devided on the issue, but it has to be an all or nothing decision - no-one having easy access to guns or everyone (except those who's teachers mark them as having serious mental problems and homocidal tendancies) having access to them - or else the balance of power is just too disturbed. Thats why there shouldnt be any of these ****ty compromises that keep getting proposed in America.
I have to admit though, I really like the gun free Britain. I see so many screwed up people every day - on the bus, in the streets, everywhere - that the idea of them having a gun at home is very worrying. Furthermore, it must be somewhat unnerving to see a gun hanging from the belt of every cop? Also, I imagine sneaking home through peoples back gardens because you've missed the last bus home after a night of heavy drinking becomes alot more frightening if you could get shot at any moment.
Havign said that, we were finally starting to get some gun problems of our own, but then you had to go and out do us. Bastards.
