You cant switch your defense setting from the new tactical to the usual legendary (classic) setting in online mode. To me the new style is kind of accidently, i dont seem to get used to it. With the classic setting my defense was very strong, the new setting is very indirectly. Anybody has a tip or something for me? For me this will be my last Fifa game, if it stays this way in the future.

dont count on the " Contain" button ... it doesnt press the oppenet .. just jockey the attacker and by time you'll know when exactly to slide/stand tackle or doulbe press with team mates ... after mastering defending this way ... you'll be stronger better than classic defending . just use the jockeying as much as u can

if you are looking for reality in the game, i suggest you leave tactical defending on.

actually its not really hard once you get used it but as you said its hard to get used to it ... i spent alot of time trying to slide tackle ... all my player's in team got really embaressed from the way they just lick the grass ! >.< but i can now expect the balls and intercept them and cover&contain attackers ... but its sometimes super impossible when the pc use's a trick and then a through ball to a player i never expected ... basicly defending is as hard as attacking if not harder ...wich is really fun !

Playing online games it's where you'll feel uncomfortable with Tactical Defending, if u face skilled players, and i don't mean tricky, i mean skilled, paced players, with turns and changing or rythm, or performing a trick just in time, that's where you'll send T.D. to hell, classic it's way better to defend and start building conter-attacks.

for me the only problem is not the tackle itself. im actually improoving on that. thet problem is that when you get out of your position to tackle, the defense cpu cant cover the spaces since they are too stupid. and if you stay and send the cpu, they wont tackle...
its only hard because of that. if you leave, u leave a hole that other team can easily go through

u can control it ... how ur 2nd defender re-act and cover . use the teammate pressing button ... till u put the defender in right place ... i do it all the time

its fine with me, its better to have a hard defending, cuz in other fifa's its easy to defend!
Its nice to see a change.

not rly. if you press the teamate pressing button, he will cover for the guy who has the ball, leaving even more open spaces behind

u must put your teammate to press, leaving u to cover the empty spaces, that's the way classical defending works, the 2nd defender do the dirty work and u just have to take the candy XD

Tactical def is the best thing EA has ever done!!
After 3 days of play and pract i get used to it and it really changes from pressing like a bull.

yea its true, Tactical defending is really a good update for Fifa Gameplay, At First it was hard to get used to of course and I made alot of fouls and bookings, but after some days i got used to it, and now my defending is even better than with legacy (Classic) mode.

It's All about experience and skills, Some players can do alot of tricks perfectly, some players have super counter attacks, some other great teamwork, and Now Some Have Great Defending Real Manual Defending, not some CPU playing instead of me and Pressing...

I Think Its one of the best features as is reflects your own personality in the Game. I am myself a defender in my Football team in real life, and As I play this Game I am basically defending now exactly the same way as my team, And its working perfectly

The thing I have noticed with the new defence system is that during goal kicks etc... its very hard to get players to contest air-balls....

Your players are off-screen and the opposition players seem to have acres of space to chest the ball down comfortably.... Your AI should automatically have a player marking or close to the opposition with goal-kicks etc... Or does this only happen when you switch over to the old defence style...?
