Disabling Laptop Touchpad?

Ubik Valis

Croatian Viking
I've been trying to find a way to disable my laptop's touchpad, but I've had no luck so far, so now I turn to the geeks of SG for some help. :(

I've tried looking in Settings > Control Panel > Mouse, but it'll only allow me to disable my USB-mouse. :|

It also won't let me change the sensitivity of the touchpad...

Help please? :)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I change the touchpad settings on this notebook?

A: Follow these steps to change the touchpad settings on this notebook.

1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. With Control Panel in Category View, click Printers and Other Hardware.

2. In the Printers and Other Hardware window, click the Mouse icon.

3. In the Mouse Properties dialog box, click the Device Settings tab, and then click Settings.

4. To modify a touchpad setting, click the + in front of the setting you want to change, and then modify the setting.

5. To save changes, click OK.

Try disabling it from the Hardware tab. Click on the device, then click Properties and go to the General Tab. There should be a drop down box at the bottom called "Device Usage", try setting it to "Do Not Use this Device (Disabled)". Try that after you install the driver though.

Your laptop is not hp i guess....because hp has a little button to disable the touch pad.......Normally your laptop will have a software to control your touchpad.

Disabling Laptop Touchpad

If eeepc-tray is set up for it, its likely that one of the silver keys at the top will enable/disable touchpad. Probably the first one.

If not, you can set it up so that it does for which ever key youd like.
