Disabling TV-Out

i'm curious for a particular reason. See my power dvd 5 and windows media player are refusing to play dvds (well kill bill, i didnt get the chance to try my other ones, till i get home later) on my pc because of some copyright thing until i disable my tv out, i dont know why, it just gives the error message.
While we're on the subject, can anyone explain why windows media player gives me some error message when i want to play dvds, about the screen resolution being too high, and even when i reduce it the same message still comes up.
