Do you want club football in Pro Evo?

Does anyone else think that it is about time that KCET gave us proper club football in their otherwise wonderful ISS/Pro Evo games.

All I want is to be able to play as my favourite team in the proper league setup (Hibs in the Scottish League) and have a proper career mode with promotion/relegation to all 4 divisions and new players being generated by the CPU as the seasons go by.

It's all been done years ago by Sensible World Of Soccer...it had nearly all of the leagues (all 4 divisions too) and club sides from around the world...proper full seasons with all of the cups.

Football is about more than just international teams and top European sides. On a week to week basis, football is about going to watch your local side in the domestic league structure. There are also the FA Cups, League Cups, European Club Tournaments all running concurrently throughout a domestic season.

It's also about more than capacity 50,000 crowds...what about the 3,000 crowds on a wet winters night in a run-down shed in Swindon (no offence to Swindon fans)....this is where the real atmosphere is.

What about the 3rd round of the FA Cup on a cold January afternoon - York v Arsenal....will their be a giant killing?? It get's my footballing juices flowing. What about the excitement of taking Darlington to the Divsion 3 play-offs and then winning promotion to Division 2. What about the agony of missing a last minute penalty and finding your team being relegated from the Premiership. This is where the real atmosphere is in football.

The show-piece games, the 50,000 Barcelona v Juventus, are only occassional fixtures in the football season and deep down, I don't really care who wins out of Barca and Juve. After all, certainly in the UK, we used to have the Italian League on Channel 4...it's all highly skillful European football but hardly anyone watched it as they don't really care who wins, so they don't show it live in the UK any more.

I want to start a campaign to get KCET, makers of the finest football game, to make the perfect football game. Anyone else agree??

YOU SAID IT ALL MAN!... IF WE GOT A DAMN GAME THAT HAS ALL THAT RELEASED FOR THE PS2 IN THE U.S. I'D BE ECSTATIC!!!

Sure, i think most of us want it(hopefully) but I'm not sure if KCET know that we want it. Hopefully this pool will get a big response...maybe then KCET will spend a few weeks thinking and design a proper career mode to reflect real football seasons and implement in Pro Evo 2:D

The thing is, KCET have done the difficult stuff...they got the gameplay sorted. All they need to do is just add more teams, leagues, etc...it's only data and a bit of code to make proper season and a career.....all very simply stuff for guys of their calibre.

And if there's any problems with obtaining rights to use the proper names, then no problem...gives us false names and let us edit them. And let us edit the team strips.

Yeah... I don't have a problem with editing the names and strips... although the less work I have to do the better! The problem has been on the PlayStation that you can only do so many edits. They need to have a way of being able to do unlimited edits that save to memory card as a single compressed data file that can be loaded when you start the game. I'm telling you with the stuff they're doing on the PS2 there's no excuse that they can't put out a football game with the atmosphere you mentioned.

The only way you can get unlimited edits , is to have a hard drive version.

You do know that there is a new PES in Japan that is a hard drive version.

Last of all why did'nt they include the japanese stadiums with the stadiums from the european version.

i had been playing the LA LIGA and SERIE A patch on WE2000, the clubs in both patches are great, i certainly dun mind an EPL version!

Perfect Game!

What culo mentions is the perfect football video game!
and the good news is:
I'm sure that KCET will develop a special european club edition of PES maybe PES2 will include this but I think it'll take some more time for them to consider this as they would have to spend a whole lot of money to get all the leagues.

That is the game that we all want. Konami / KCET must listen to us. The perfect game is possible and it is time for them to deliver it.

I am almost certain that Konami left out team-edit on purpose.
Of course they can implement it, but the game is already so brilliant that it's almost impossible to improve on that department.
For the next release they come with the team-editor I think.
When they gave us that editor now, what was left to offer in the next release??

I also hope and strongly suspect that everyone does want club footbal, so what are we going to do about it?? Just sit around and hope for another 10 years??

I have been waiting patiently for years for a perfect football game which has the great gameplay and graphics of Pro Evo but which also has the great atmosphere, clubs, leagues, etc of Sensible World Of Soccer. And Konami are about to release their latest version of Pro Evo and still I have to wait until they release a complete football game.

I am fed up with passively waiting for the perfect game to arrive when it would be so easy for KCET to provide it. My patience is wearing thin. For all of the great gameplay that Pro Evo will undoubtedly offer, the KCET team always miss that one important ingredient in real football....the passion of playing as your favourite team in the proper league and season structure.

Others may be perfectly happy to play as Bayern Munich v Inter Milan in a ficticious Master League with every game being a 50,000 capacity crowd but I'm bored with it.

With KCET having teamed up with the Championship Manager team in order to utilise their massive database of accurate player data, it is not good enough for KCET to then simply hand-pick a few top European sides yet again and produce a game with a couple of dozen club sides.

Just like in real life where there is more to a great game of football than silky skills, there is more to a great computer football game than the gameplay....there is the passion & atmosphere surriounding supporting your own team which is absolutely fundemental to the sport...without the passion, football would be just another bland sport like volleyball.

I am determined to ensure that KCET don't short-change us next time and so the campaign starts here. The more support we can build at this forum, the better our arguement will be.

You may have noticed that EA have announced that they are to release a patch to sort out some of the crap that they hadn't sorted in FIFA 2002. It is through forums like this that developers get to here the public opinion....and public opinion is vital....we pay for their games which keeps them in existence. So why not at least try to get everything that we want from Pro Evo.
